Mitsubishi wd 62627. Turned the tv on and the picture is completely distorted. The picture is only up in the left corner, covering only 1/9 of the screen. When we use on demand, the menu is too large and not to scale. We have tried all the picture in picture options and nothing is working.

If you have experienced a power outage recently and the TV is plugged directly into the wall 110VAC outlet; you may have experienced a burst of power called surge, whereby the excessive energy could damage the Video Controller PC Board. This is why I suggest using a Power Battery Backup unit to catch such energy. Its called a UPS and Walmart has them. They must match the Voltage/Amps and power Wattage of the TV. In the mean time, if the PC board was jolted, it needs to be replaced by a technician.

Chances are you have something wrong in the main board..replace it and things should be back to normal or try a hard reset

Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected

you need to replace your convergence ICs. Post your model number of your set, and I will post the correct stk numbers and a link where you can get new ones.

most likely the convergence Ics have failed. Check F9a04 and F9A05 pico fuses if they are blown you will need to replace them and the convergence Ics.They are located on the center board they are green and look like resistors without the color band. see the photoa193b32.jpg82b89b8.jpg

SOURCE: SAME TV(mitsubishi HD1080 series)-- corners of screen are bent

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Wd 62628 lamp indicator light is solid yellow / orange what needs to be done

Your lamp cover is not installed. That is what causes the LED to light amber. Remove and re-seat the lamp cover door. There is a switch it hits to tell the TV the door is shut. This is to protect you from electrocution.

Fix for Mitsubishi WD-62627 going black and white

I found the solution to my problem and it has worked on two different Mitsubishi WD-62627 DLP rear projection HDTV's both with the same problem of the pictures going black and white after the sets had been on for about 20~30 minutes. I suspected that the color wheel might be the culprit. I removed the color wheels from both light engines and flushed out the back sides (where you can see the pulse coils in the back of the color wheel motor in the picture below) liberally with Ronsonal lighter fluid, which is basically naptha. I used lighter fluid for years in camera repair to flush out micromotors that would slow down or bind over time. The Ronsonol evaporates quickly and does not leave a harmful residue, however, I blew each one out with compressed air to make sure there was no liquid left. I then cleaned the glass on the color wheels, installed them back into the light engines, and installed the light engines back into the TV's. Both have been working fine for several weeks now. I do not claim this technique as a panacea but it has worked for me.

Replace service cords, as they might be getting worn and loose. It does sound like that to me. Bad coaxial cables

My tv is mitsubishi dlp wd 62627. has sound but no picture. may be the lamp??? or may be the video card???

I go more with the lamp, if it was the video card, your picture would be completely green or blue, but since what you have is the lack of image it's most probable your lamp is the one defective. You should also be aware that the lamps is powered by other components, if fixing the lamp does not solve your problem, you might have a faulty ballast, which is the board in charge of sending all the energy to the lamp so it can light up. http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=mitsubishi+lamps/?Click=48427

Mitsubishi WD-62627 TV HD Problem: Has good picture at start up. 5 mins. in to operating picture changing colors slowly to more blue then green as time goes by with an opyic outline of people and objects.

Sounds like you are describing the Solorized Picture problem. This is a common problem on your model. Mitsubishi recommends removing and re-seating the DVI cable between the light engine and the chassis. If this doesn't fix it then you have to change the light engine. I have never seen a remove/reseat fix the problem myself but i have had a tech or 2 that i know fix it this way on occasion. Most of the time its a bad optical. Mitsubishi has extended the warranty for this problem on the 73" tv's but I do not think they are covering it on the 62" sets. If you are interested in going further on your own without a repairman let me know so i can assist.

Thank you
Tim
