This maybe due to a disk misread, clean youe lens and retry. If this does not help you may have a problem where the system is unaware of the disks it shouldbe able to paly this is a hard memory issue. Try cleaning the lens first.

I have just the dvd player, the player keeps ejecting the disc and not playing it

Could be lots of things, but here are a few easy ideas:
1) Is the disc Blu-Ray? A regular DVD player can't read Blu-Rays.
2) I think all DVD players can read CDs, but if the disc you're putting in is a CD, maybe that's the problem.
3) Maybe the disc is dirty. Wet the disc, wash it with dish soap (or hand soap, then rinse it clean and dry it off. You can use a cloth or a paper towel for washing/drying. When washing and drying, make motions across the disc from the inside hole to the edge; don't swirl around the disc.
4) Maybe the disc is not the same region as the player. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code
5) You've got a PAL (European) disc and an NTSC (American/Japanese) player.

XPS One will not read CDs or play DVDs

1.use original disc, bcz some brand drives not supported all the discs available in the market.
2.cheak with other disc,if any disc cant read ,then

* Open Your CPU system cabinet, then cheak the data cable and power cable of the Dvd/Cd Drive.(You may change the other power card in your system already had)

* change the data cable
3.if u still have the problem, then finaly replace the new drive.LG Dvd Drive is beswt one.because it can read all discs.

DVD problem

It could be a couple things...
#1. Over time, dust and deposits can accumulate on the laser that reads the disc. In many cases, DVD players with this problem can still read CDs. You could try a DVD laser cleaner, which is usually a disc that has a tiny brush glued onto it. Run the cleaning disc 2 or 3 times, and try it again. Try both CDs and DVDs, since CDs are easier to read than a DVD.
2. After a DVD player has been used for awhile, another common problem is that the laser in the DVD player becomes misaligned, inhibiting its ability to read DVDs. In many cases, DVD players with this problem will still be able to read a CD. I'd try a cleaning disc first, since the only way to fix this problem is to bring the unit to a service center for repair.
Let me know what happens after you get the DVD laser cleaner and run it. Hope this helps.

DVDs & CDs will not play

If you are playing STANDARD CD or regular DVD that you have purchase and you are having this problem, your dvd player is malfunction;however,if you are playing DVD burner disc or a different dvd region disc(we are region 1 in U.S.) that is no going to work.Same thing for your CD burner disc,it might not work.
If you are using a rental dvd disc, check and see if there is scratches? If so,try to get one without that many scratches!

DVD display indicates "no disc"

Try a lens cleaner cd, as when the lens gets misaligned or if it's quite old, it will find it harder to read a DVD as the tracks are much closer together than that of a VCD as they are cd's and their tracks are wider apart and easier to read.
