Does you machine say replace PC drum on the control panel if so need to have the drum developer replaced at the same time. The code is dealing with the image unit the drum is one part the developer section is the bottom part or the sensor at the bottom of the image unit is bad. If developer was replaced did that person use a vacuum clean if so then the static electricity from the vacuum clean destroyed the sensor. NEVER USE A VACUUM to remove old toner. Worse case the main board that the sensor feeds is bad. Also when (if the drum and developer where replace did that person clear the counter for developer and drum. Machine works on info from counters to set certain voltages on certain assy. If the counters are not cleared then the copier thinks there is old developer and old drum in the machine and sets voltages for those units when in reality there are new drum and developer . Also after the developer was replaced was the required F8 run. And no prints/fax or copies where made before the f8 was run. When replacing the developer and drum the fax line and the Ethernet cable need to be removed first even used F8 and counters are done in service mode.
Remoe the image unit, remove the OPC drum ,clean the opc drum cleaning blade(if necessarry change),remove the transfer unit clean the transfer belt cleaning blade, and clean the polygon glass.
Could be one of many things. Possible new transfer roller - make sure the transfer roller is not jammed.
Check the developer roller (at exit from toner hopper), to see if it is rotating properly. Check all connections to/from drum and transfer rollers.
This is most likely a dev unit problem. Not sure if dev/hopper and transfer are all in one unit - if so, replace the lot, or you'll be chasing one problem after the other.
try also to change or to service the corona units both the upper corona in the drum unit and the the transfer corona assembly unit down the drum. ok try your best.
When developer goes bad you use more toner for one thing, but the main sign is a gray background in your copy. The print should be black but appears to be gray. The ricoh 350/450 was always noted to leak toner and developer as it runs. Check your machine and see if you see any small piles of toner, which also has developer in it, in the machine. Ther are small seals made of felt that need to be replaced if you have this problem. These seals rub against the drum sides....Good luck.
hi im jules_09,check the developer,if its past over 60,000 copies if
its over 60,000 copies you need to change the developer along with the
opc drum and cleaning blade or roller, all copiers need to be replaced
with new developer, opc drum and cleanign blade or roller when it reach
its copy life, that may be the cause of light copy of print
hi im jules_09.the opc drum of canon is not needed to be polish, they are sensitive to any form of polishing materials, but if the drum is not scratch adjust the voltage on your exposure lamp in the program.if its still light somrthings wrong with your developer
