On the ev6010 Honda generator the posive starter wire is black and was accidently hooked up to the chassis ground wire. Then the start button was pushed and nothing happened. I corrected the wire hookup to the positive side but will not start still

SOURCE: battery to starter motor.

Just to be clear, the starter should have a large terminal (where the battery cable connects) and a smaller terminal (where the activation wire connects)
The starter is grounded via the mounting bolts.
The activation wire runs from the starter to the starter switch.

Powerhorse 9000ES Generator. Battery wires - is there another wire also that connects to the battery?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Powerhorse 9000ES generator. While I don't have specific information on the wiring of that particular generator model, I can provide some general guidance.

Typically, a generator's battery is connected to the starter motor and the electrical system. The positive wire from the battery is usually connected to the starter motor or the starter solenoid, while the negative wire is connected to the generator's chassis or grounding point.

As for the additional brown wire that changes to black and has an eyelet, it's difficult to determine its exact purpose without more information. However, it's possible that this wire is intended for a specific accessory or component of the generator. It may be a ground wire, a wire for a charging system, or a connection for a specific electrical component.

To ensure proper and safe installation, I recommend consulting the Powerhorse 9000ES generator's manual or contacting the manufacturer's customer support for detailed wiring instructions. They should be able to provide you with the specific information you need to properly connect the battery and any other wiring components.

Put motor in chevrolet 1500 pickup and now engine wont crank at all, starter wont turn over

What is model year? Sometimes when you replace engine you may need the computer from donor vehicle as well? Any testing at starter motor make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good? You can turn crank by hand, correct? The engine isn't seized? The starter motor usually has two voltage circuits, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and may be wired through the neutral switch for automatic tranny. The starter motor usually grounds through engine block. So, grounds are important.
You can take starter motor off, lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from charged battery to starter motor, at the least, it should kick out drive gear and spin.

Honda ev6010

If you have an ohm letter or continuity tester, put the probes across switch and depress kill while reading meter for a change in resistance. Possible the switch is just bad. If the meter doesn't indicate a change in resistance, switch is definitely bad.

Does the neg. battery cable hook to the starter on a 1996 mercury villager? or some where else?

Yes the neg cable is grounded at the starter bolts and also at the frame.
Do you have power coming from the starter relay down to the starter solenoid with the key switch in the start position ?
Do you have headlights when you try to crank the engine ?
Have you tried cranking it in neutral ?

The bike was running fine in the evening. Rode to work parked the bike took the key out. The battery was dead in the morning. Put the 10 amp charger on and the motor started to turn over with the key off!...

your starter button is malfunctioning. maybe some oxidation in the switch. when starter button is pressed in that can cause your other electrical stuff to not work.

Generator won't start & now starter will not shut off when it has power

I have seen this happen in cars- the problem is most likel the ignition unit -they do not spend a lot of money on them in production. So here is what is happening . When you are putting key in and out metal filings are being deposited inside unit- this is now causing a short and draining batteries. Start here. This happened with cars a few years ago and they were catching fire in driveways.Call dealer and get replacement ignition- should be cheap fix. Good luck.
