I tried taking the microwave out of the housing and checking the problem but could not figure our how to open the back of the microwave, I think it needs some special tools. Is there way to open just the control panel area and get access to the door opener.
I believe the only way of gaining access to the door latch assembly is by removing the cover. You can use needle nose pliers to grip the sides of the screws to slowly turn them out. Go to www.partselect.com enter your model number then scroll down to any diagram that shows the location of your part. Click to enlarge exploded diagram on left and you will be able to view at top of page. You can print the entire diagram for exact assembly by holding your pointer in the upper left hand corner of diagram. Select the print icon. Now you have what you need.
