Sound card codecs

I need the AC-97 codecs for my sound.everytime i download,them...they are not the right one,it wont let me axcess my harddrive.where do i go to dowmload the right ones for the e-machine T-2984??

i had a bad virus and i got rid of it the day i got rid of ue i lost all my sound it won't show i have any kind of sound how can i fix this??

The AC97 codecs are fairly generic but there are two basic choices - AC97 Standard or AC97 HD, both are available for download from the Realtek site.

If you have already attempted to install the AC97 codecs without success you should probably try the AC97 HD codecs. One or the other should be compatible with your device though.

Post your results here, especially if this doesn't fix your problem, so I can further assist you.

I found this thread on another site related to your machine & the exact sound drivers it uses. They recommend this driver (the VIA AC97) for your audio device. Apparently the wrong drivers are listed on the emachines website.
