This is the solution that came in the owner's manual. It doesn't work. Been trying for two days. Any other thoughts? I'm going to take the battery out and do a hard reset that way.

The menu for TRU9485 doesn't have a REGISTER HANDSET selection as the manual says that it does. Have tried the other method for other models as suggested and that doesn't work either. Anyone find a solution?

I did what you said I disconnect adapter from the base, and then
hit the # key, and it said handset registering, and then it said
    register failed. Now what?

Disconnect the base AC adapter.
•While holding the [find hs/intercom], reconnect the
AC Adapter.
•On the handset, press and hold [#] until the display
reads HANDSET REGISTERING and you hear a
beep.

tried all other suggestions with the TWX955 submersible handset and only this worked. Again, unplug AC power supply to main base unit, hold down intercom while simultaneously plugging power back in, hold # key on submersible handset phone unit, and it will register. Thank you!!!!

Push and hold the the Red Hang-Up key and the # key at the same time. Two options will appear on the handset. Select "Base Station Unavailable"

Confirm with the "YES" option and the handset will display "Handset De-registered"

From the Base Station, select menu and then "Register Handset"

The base station will display a message stating, "On handset, hold # key for 2 seconds"

Press and hold the # key on the handset for a few seconds and you will hear the beep as the phone and base station confirm registration.

I had a similar problem with a regular handset that I ordered separate to go with my base. Taking the battery out wouldn't reset it. If you push the red hang up key and the # key for at least 5 seconds, it will give you the option to deregister it, even if you don't have it registered to a base. It reset it brand new. Tried registering it again, and it worked! HTH

My TRU9485 cordless phone is showing an E4 message after power was restored after an outage. Obviously not working.

Unfortunately, the E4 error is an internal hardware failure. You can try to reset the unit by unplugging the base station's power supply. Remove the phone line cord from the base. Finally remove the batteries from all of the handsets. Wait at least 15 minutes before you reconnect the power, batteries and telephone cable. Place one handset on the base. Wait one minute and check if the phone works.

If you see a message about searching for the base or out of range, then the problem is probably with the transmitter/receiver in the base. In any case, if the TRU9485 is still under warranty (one year), contact Uniden. Otherwise, replace the cordless phone system.

I hope this helps.

A message signal and message light is on permanently when there are no messages. How do I stop the message signal?

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

How can I register a Uniden wireless phone handset, model TWX977 to a Uniden wireless base, Model D-1680?

Sorry, you can't. The two phones use completely different communication methods. It would be like trying to feed a VHS videotape into a DVD player. They both contain video data, but in completely different formats.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see. But there it is.

Unable to register handset TWX955 Series

I have a TRU9585 Base.

On the BASE press menu/select, scroll down to register handset using the button to the right of the display, and press select. The LED on the base will flash quickly.

Now pick up the TWX955 handset (the one that won't register), and press and hold # until it registers.

Worked for me.

How do you register a waterproof phone (TWX977) to a TRS9585

Not sure if you still have this problem, but...

Basically go on you base unit, and hit "MENU/SELECT". Scroll down to "REGISTER HANDSET" and click "MENU/SELECT". On your waterproof handset, hold the "#" key until it displays "REGISTERING HANDSET". And voila! After that finishes, your waterproof handset will be good to go!
