PAPER JAM I pulled the paper tray and the drum out and cleared the jam. I also checked up top for a jam. The jam looks like it jams as the paper enters the drum. when I replace the drum and the paper tray for the machine to reset it make a horrible grinding poping noise and then rejams. Is there something wrong with the feeding mechanism in the drum? Does the drum need to be replaced? Or do I need to look for another problem?

If you pull the drum out of the machine. Close front cover. is the noise still there. If it is then you have a broken fuser gear. If noise is not there remove the toner cart. from drum reinstall the drum unit in machine see if noise is there. if noise is there then it will be the drum. If not reinstall the toner try that if noise comes back then it is your toner cart.

I cant fix the paper jam problem. every time i take the paper jam out it jams again

I have had paper jams in five different places on this machine. It has jammed at the pickup point from the tray, in which case you have to remove the paper tray and pull the jammed paper out. It has jammed at the manual paper feed tray, in which case you just have to pull the jammed paper out of the feed rollers. It has jammed at the toner/drum, in which case you have to open the front cover and pull the toner cartridge out to remove the jam. It has jammed in the back of the machine where the paper feeds through to the output tray, in which case you have to open the small back panel and remove the paper. And it has jammed in the output rollers, in which case you have to reach inside the output tray and remove the paper. Then once the jam is cleared there are times when the machine has to be unplugged for up to 8 hours to reset before it will function properly.

Says there is a paper jam but we looked everywhere and there is no paper stuck anywhere in the machine

soes it say original jam or just paper jam if the jam is in th document feeder part open the top and check the sensors where the paper goes trhough.you may have to take the toner/drum unit out to reset the jam also if there is a door on the back open and close this to reset the sensors. If there was no paper the first time check the paper tray by pulling out and then look inside where the tray sits as the poaper might be stuck there.. also check the tray in that the paper sits tight in the guides and the rollers that feed are not dirty. If turning on and off doesnt get rid of the jam there is something stuck on one of the sensors..Goood Luck A

Note
    • If a paper jam occurs when using the optional lower tray unit, check for correct installation of the upper paper tray.
    • Always remove all paper from the paper tray and straighten the stack when you add new paper. This helps prevent multiple sheets of paper from feeding through the printer at one time and reduces paper jams.
