Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please do not forget to rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

SOURCE: Briggs and Stratton 6.5 hp won't start- not sure

Took carb. off and cleaned and put new kit in. Carb. is self choking. Put new primer bulb in. Will run with starting fluid then stop. Not getting any gas. Could carb. be clogged. I soaked it in carb. cleaner and blew out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the governer, its a lever that pulls the throttle plate from the engine side. Try manually overriding it (twist it open as the engine's running) and see if that does it.

Castelgarden 102 wont start

could be a number if things, dirty carb, old gas, dirty coil contacts, low combustion chamber pressure, (bad rings), bad spark plug. First try replacing the spark plug and if it is old gas remove and replace with fresh. if that doesn't do it then the carb needs to be removed, cleaned and blown out thoroughly with an air compressor. reassemble and reinstall. next is to remove the recoil housing and clean the coil contacts. the coil is attached to the spark plug wire. remove and with some old gas or wd-40 and a wire brush, remove dirt and rust from contacts as well as magnet on the flywheel. be sure to leave the proper gap between the coil and flywheel when you replace the coil. If you can pull the recoil with your forefinger and thumb, chances are your machine is toast and needs a ring job. good luck

26 hp briggs it is firing and full of fresh gas but wont start.

Well you didn't indicate what its mounted on but the basics are: spark and fuel. Pull a spark plug and make sure you get spark. If you do then it must be fuel. You can try a shot of starting fluid (small amont) into the carb, if it runs on that you know you have a fuel problem. Be sure the carb is getting fuel from the tank. Clean the carb. Maybe a carb kit. With today's fuel, you must take care of your fuel system. Use Sta-bil year round. Fuel can go bad in 60 days.
