Is there a code that will work to operate the volume from the Yamaha V463 AV reciever for a Diretv Remote RC46R. I tried all the codes that were listed in the setup from the directv reciever and even did the Auto program without any luck.
My wife wants to be able to adjust volume with the directv and not have to use the Yamaha Remote to adjust volume.
Is there another brand (panasonic, Pioneer, Sony, etc.)that will work for directv remote with a Dierctv HD Reciever Model HR-22 and Remote RC46R.
I do not need an expensive unit as there are only 2 speakers and a subwoofer (Bose SE-5) hooked to it.I have a Panasonic DVD recorder,Sony VCR and Directv HD Reciever and a Samsung HDTV, and a XBox(not 360) that I would like to be able to connect to.
I would prefer HDMI connections for tv,dvd recorder, and Directv. Something simple with great output but will definetly will work with Directv remote.

Solved problem with Yamaha HTR-6040 AV Receiver. My daughter had inadvertently changed the program to "Direct Stereo" mode which allows sources to bypass the decoders and DSP processors so you can listen to 2-Channel PCM and Analog sources. Nothing to decode digital audio in this setting!

Actually, you can go into the system settings by choosing "Parental, Fav's & Setup" then choose "system setup" then choose "remote" the IR/RF setup. Change it to IR and follow the instructions. Once I did that my remote worked on my DirecTV DVD HR22-100

I recently got the same receiver and had the same problem. Here's what I was told - and it worked for me:
Even though HDMI cables carry audio and video, for whatever reason this reciever won't accept audio through hdmi. Apparently only much more expensive recievers carry audio through hdmi. What you have to do is run optical audio cables from your xbox, cable box, dvd player or other video device to the optical inputs on the back of the reciver. Then you customize the scene buttons to match your video and audio inputs.
You can get these optical cables pretty cheap on line or even at target. Don't get ripped off by Best Buy for these cables. I love best buy, but they rip off on cables!
This receiver is great - once I got it all figured out and running right I've loved it! Hope everything works out for you!

try 30176 and dont forget to assign the remote to turn up the receiver not the tv

30176 is the code you need . Press Aux and then hold setup until Aux lights up. Enter code. If you want the remote to control the receiver all the time, press Aux and then hold setup until Aux lights up. Enter 993 then press Aux. Aux will flash, now press Cbl and Aux should light up when you use the volume.
