It can be the T-CON board or the main board which sends the signals to the T-CON.

I would try cooling the TC0N board with small fan or freeze spray used for electronics troubleshooting to see if the problem goes away.
I did not find real free download service manual for this TV, very hard to come by, and since most of the modules are not made by SAMSUNG, it will not give you all the info you need.

There are a lot of causes and troubleshooting steps. Try this one first if this tv is truly an LC42D62U. Note which input you are on. Press menu and scroll over to the setup heading. Scroll down to reset and press enter. Select yes and press enter. Select yes again and press enter. The tv will restart and then you should have volume.

If this does not work try a different device on a different input connected with different cables to make sure it is the tv. If it is just one device you need to troubleshoot that device and not the entire television.

If the television is at fault you can be walked through and INIT. I could list the steps here but one wrong turn and the tvs memory could be wiped. There are reps available right now to walk you through troubleshooting up to an INIT at 877-332-7867 free of charge.

CALL HIM BACK . sometimes when we troubleshoot a problem another one pops up ,when troubleshooting we move boards and unplug connectors . there can be dirty connections that pop up when where done and even a broken solder joint as well . he should fix it for free . i know we do and it does happen to us once in a while . good luck
