Go back to the advanced power settings and check the HDD is not set to turn off after a set time, you can change this to neverto stop this happening.

You should reinstall your sound driver.

Download and install first the chipset driver.

You maybe need to unzip the file before you install.

Did you install the chipset driver first? ...and are you sure you downloaded the correct audio driver?

Hello there.

Click here to download and install audio drivers for your Dell OptiPlex GX520.

When the page loads select your Operating System.

Then lower down click the heading Audio.

Now click the download button.
Install the drivers by double clicking the downloaded file.
You may also want to install the other drivers that are available for your computer, like chipset, LAN and VGA drivers.

The SM Bus Controller driver is integrated with the Chipset Driver, Download and install the Chipset driver, if it's already installed, uninstall it, restart your computer and re-install it. I guess you Operating System is Windows since this machine doesn't support windows vista or windows 7. You can download the driver/s from HERE. Open the link, scroll down the page and expand the "Chipset", you'll be able to see the driver download link, click it to download and follow the onscreen instructions. When the download dialog box pops up, click the "Download" button below "Download via Internet Browser", otherwise you'll need to download through Dell download manager which I don't recommend as there used to me issues with it.
