I have a GE Adora DVM1850SM4SS. I went to reheat a cup of coffee - hit the time cook 28 seconds and start. It did, then all went dark. I got an error message that there was a power interuption and to hit start. I had opened the door. Closed it and hit start and all went dark again. Opened the door and there is a little lighted bulb in the ceiling of the microwave. It flickers on and off. It does this when I put weight on the turn table or there is a round disc in the ceiling - don't know what it's called but that sets off the light/sensor and so does messing with the door latch. I've unplugged and waited a while to plug in again, no change. What is wrong? Is it an easy/inexpensive fix?

May be an issue with the magnetron tube.

First of all, it's under warranty. So I would contact Maytag for a free fix.

See http://maytag.com/support/service_parts.jsp

For an out of warranty reply:

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

SOURCE: Sharp microwave runs when door closed

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or sometimes a problem on the control panel.

I would suspect the door switch mount has a broken tab allowing the switch to swing down when the door is closed, not allowing it to really be activated.

Also, even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

How do you use the kitchen timer and cook at the same time?

If you have the kitchen timer set for instance for 10 minutes and it is counting down, and then you want to reheat you coffee for 2 minutes. You would hit either time cook or reheat button and enter 2 minutes ten hit start. The microwave will heat your coffee and show the 2 minute countdown for that. When done it will revert back to what is left on the 10 minute kitchen timer without missing a beat on most microwaves.

Gh9115xe went off completely sometime after a cup of coffee was reheated. Now, nothing works. The outlet is live.

probably not
there is a glass fuse under the outer case near the circuit board
if that is blown it is from a short so you may have to take it in for a diagnosis

GE Microwave, inexpensive model, I place a cup of coffee to warm on the turntable, enter a time, it ends and beeps, I open the door, the coffee cup handle is positioned away. I've gone through many...

Hello BillJohn! I've found that, after many countless hours of precise trial and error testing, that the optimum placement of the cup and a predetermined time entered on the keypad will yield the desired results you're seeking.

By placing the cup on the outer edge of the turntable, with the handle facing to the right side, when looking straight at the cup of water, you would then close the door until it latches and enter in a time of 2:38 onto the timer, (that's 2 minutes and 38 seconds) with a termperature setting of either low or medium, (not the default high).

This will provide you with a warmed up cup of joe, with the handle facing in such a manner that you should be able to grasp it in either your left or right paw without much trouble. However, this will only work approximately 82.5% of the time, the rest of the 17.5% the cup will end up at the 3 or 4 o'clock position (when the handle will be facing the back of the micro).

Otherwise, you'll be destined to have to grasp the cup with your hand and manually rotate it until the handle can be grabbed easily for extraction from the microwave. Of course, it goes without saying that that cup could be quite warm after the timer beeps and signals that the heating/cooking process has been completed.

Please remember that this highly sofisticated kitchen appliance was once only available to the ultra rich, back when the first Amana Radarranges were available for sale. These microwaves once had the unbelievable pricing at around $1200, all so some ultra rich person could reheat their leftover quails eggs and caviar, (along with that peruvian cop of coffee that their butler let go cold).

So be thankful that modern manufacturing technics have been able to harness the atom vibrations that allow for rapid heating and cooking for under $100 these days! Why just today, Home Depot was offering a dal for a small microwave for $19.00 on their Black Friday deals! I would have purchased it, but after seeing your issues with these new fangled devices, I decided that having to rotate my cup after reheating it, was just too much to do, even for the odd 17.5% of the time it happens!

Enjoy that warm cup of Joe and please keep an ongoing log of your actual results of how many times the cup and handle end up in the unaccessible position of 3 and 4 o'clock for the next 30 days.

I'm seeking more real-world data before I publish my statistics on this unusual cup/handle ending position phenomena.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I have a GE Adora Mircrowave only 3 months old. It does not start although all other functions seem to be working. When I hit sensor cooking and then start is says I cannot press pause during sensor...

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Otherwise, it sounds like you have a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.
