14 month old LG Microwave. The control panel is illuminated but does not respond. Won't clear,start or do anything. If I press very hard on buttons, numerals will change but nothing else responds. Worked fine, this suddenly became a problem.

Very common , You need to replace the switch membrain , this is the entire touch pad , they are not to much $ , and you should find it easy online.

They are not bad , a few phillips screws and a ribbon cable and thats it , you can usally open the door to see the screws. Turn off the breaker before you do anything.

Check the fuse. Also check out the safety switch by the unit door. If not closed when door is closed, no power is applied to either the turntable or the tube.
I have three customers describe the exact scenario on this MW but was never able to duplicate while on site all three were in warranty I changed the door switches and control board at 14 months they may pay for a service call to have it diagnosed

panel frame assembly, which comes with a new keypad on it, or the entire
control box / controller assembly.

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.
I always recommend that you spray non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth (not a paper towel which can scratch) and gently wipe
the keypad.
And I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out
of the controls and door panels.

Sometimes if the door switches are faulty then the touch panel may not respond. There are usually 3 switches, and I'd recommend if one if faulty replacing all of them as a set. Otherwise it may be a Control Panel fault.
