Blackberry Pearl won't stay connected to radio

My Blackberry Pearl won't stay connected to the radio. When I restore the connection manually, it only stays connected for 16 seconds each time. The battery is showing that it has 3/4 of battery left on it, and I talked to tech support at Sprint and they just told me to reset the device, which I have done, I've also taken the battery out and replaced it. They also told me to start provisioning...which takes forever and I have to manually cancel that as well.

I've read that other people have had the same problem but I have yet to find a solution.

If it was spotty reception, I'd suggest the antenna may have been damaged when dropped. They do get damaged.
But systemic, timed 16 second bursts?
In Settings, when is your phone configured to 'go to sleep'? After how long a period of inactivity?
It may not be considering the radio signal is be sufficient activity to justify keeping it 'awake'.

have you tried doing a hard reset of the device? go to Settings, Options, Security Options, General Settings, Device Wipe.

Options> Mobile Network> now press the BB menu key> Diagnostics> Now press the BB menu key again Run

Instructions for unlocking Blackberry Pearl 8120

1. Ensure a SIM Card is inserted

2. Go to 'Manage Connections'

3. Click on 'Turn All Connections Off'

4. Go to 'Options'

5. Click on 'Advanced Options'

6. Click on 'SIM Card'

7. Type 'MEPPD' (letters will not appear on-screen but a menu will pop up.)

8. Type 'MEPP2' (*Note- for Telus, use MEPP4. You will be prompted to enter MEP code)

9. Enter the unlock code (CONFIRM you get "Code Accepted" message)

10. Reboot device

Cannot receive calls on my Verizon Blackberry pearl

Hello parks willia If your having trouble with the pearl look athe radio connection on the phone. Make sure it isn't off.
If you see it in the off postion you need to go the radio connections on your blackberry and turn it on. If that doesn't work the quickest fix is to put the battery and put it back in the phone. Now then other thing you should do once it boots up is the *228 option 1 and let the phone reprogram.

How i connect my blackberry to my computer

Hi, install desktop manager latest version, then you can connect blackberry pearl using usb cable. If you dont have desktop manager software cd, you can downalod it from blackberry.com. I hope this information will be helpfull.

Blackberry pearl 8130 flashed to cricket wont connect to internet

You can call cricket and ask them to "refresh" your internet, wait 5 minutes and try again. Worked for me.

Radio keeps shutting off

When there is no signal around ur blackberry will shut off the radio instead of constantly searching for one which really kills battery power just make sure you arent in a real signal dead area and you should be fine to turn it back on just go to manage connections and click it back on,if this is not the problem then there might be some problem with ur phone.

Radio connection shuts off every 30 seconds

Try taking battery out and putting it back in - have had a couple of problems with my own blackberry and this is advice I was given, and it worked! Might be worth a try anyway.

Can't "turn radio on"

actually the above solution is wrong.

to turn the wireless radio back on

1. go to "manage connections"
2. check the box that says "mobile connection"

This just happened to me and now my wireless radio is back on. Good luck!
