If the picture looks fine without it then yes you can use a piece of plexi or lexan without a proble. It is only for protecting the expensive screens behind it.
sure no problem. is the screen damaged or scratched...if the inside screen is not damaged then all you have to do is take the t20 torq screw from around the screen and remove the front plexi. remove the brackets that hold the inner screen and straighten it out carefull it easy to scratch.
the front protective screen in which rca calls a supersheild. can be replaced quite easy. it cost u bout 70 dollars. a cheaper solution i have heard of is to replace the screen with a thin plexi glass. thats if the internal screens have not been damaged.
the outer screen on these units easly replaced. RCA #258797 their called supersheilds.. rca charges about 70 dollars for the item...If it is just that i have seen people just use a clear sheet of plexi. removeing the screens requires removein several torx 20 screw around the outer and remove the frame.. then the clear peice of plexi is attache with serval brackets.
There is a product for polishing platstic that removes minor scratches. I don't however remember the name of the product and if you do obatin it try it in the corner of the screen first to verify it won't do further damage to the screen.
