This machine grabs the whole pile of papers instead of one at a time. If you only insert one paper to be folded, it doesn't fold it accurately - it adds and extra little ''tuck-type'' fold to an edge of the paper somewhere it shouldn't be.
Not sure what make / model you have but folders are pretty much the same. The issue with the paper feed is your retarder, also known as the paper seperator. On the feed table where you load paper there should be a pad or rubber wheel. Look for an adjustment screw. You need to close the gap enough so that it only takes one sheet at a time. The extra fold sounds like you need to adjust the fold plate stop positions just a hair. If you give me the make and model I should be able to email you a manual.

Thanks for the advice. We seem to have the fold plates figured out now, but the machine is still unreliable in regards to how the paper feeds. It will vary between: grabbing one sheet of paper, grabbing several pieces and grabbing the whole stack! It is very frustrating.
We have the manual, but it doesn't give any trouble-shooting help or tips for adjustments.
The model is: Techko LF283
Thanks, again!
