Used to have a single channel of RAM at 400Mhz 500MB, now replaced with dual channel each 1GB but 333MHz. The PC only detects 500MB in each channel, but has gone into dual channel mode. Is there a bios setting that I need to change to get the rest of the RAM recognised? FSB is 166MHz to get the CPU speed to be detected correctly. Ta.

It would seem as if you have got 2x512mb sticks and not 2x1Gb sticks. There is no setting in the BIOS that will change how your system sees your RAM sticks. RAM wasn't made at the 333Mhz speed in 1Gb sticks, it was the expensive end of the market and so was usually only available in the highest speed range for business and industry.

I have 4 slots of ram in intel d915glvg how much ram can be increased in each slot

Good Day.
Your motherboard can accommodate up to 4GB of memory. That means you can have 4pcs of 1GB DDR SDRAM 400mhz or 333mhz memory modules to maximize your memory. Just be sure to have the same speed (400mhz or 333mhz).

Just let me know if you need some more help.
Good luck,

Ram problems...msi k8n neo4 platinum and have 2X Corsair CMX1024-3200PT 1GB and 2X Kingston KVR400X64C3A/1G. I can get each pair to work dual channel 400mhz but when I install the secound pair no matter...

You will need to manually set the ram speed, in the BIOS to 333MHz as the board does not support 400MHz in dual channel mode. Also, the slot lay out is every other slot, so you need to put one brand of RAM in slots one and three, then the other brand in slots 2 and 4. The 3GB maybe incomparability in using two different brands. I had this exact board and it was very finicky with RAM. I know DDR is expensive, so you may be stuck with 3GB, but I'd expect some errors. You see, each brand may have different timings the old BIOS cannot pair up between the brands, causing a conflict and causing you to lose out on 1GB of RAM.

Check the manual pages 2-7 and 2-8 for memory configurations.you can get the manual from here: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/K8N_Neo4_Platinum_PCB_1.0#down-manual

Does ''FOXCONN 8657MF-series'' supports 400mhz fsb of RAM

Yes, you can add it. The faster 1 GB will be downclocked to the speed of the slower 256MB.
But it would be better for performance to remove the 256 MB one completely.

I have a intel 845gvsr board, want to replace a Ram. What type of RAM is suitable for this board?

Your Intel D845GVSR has,

1. Two ram slots.

2.Maximum Amount of ram is 1GB for EACH ram slot.

3.Maximum TOTAL Amount is 2GB, (1GB in each ram slot)

4.Uses DDR Sdram at 400MHz, (PC3200), OR
DDR Sdram at 533MHz, (PC4200)

This is an example of DDR Sdram at 400MHz, (PC3200),

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1354&name=PC3200-DDR-Dual-Channel-Memory&Nav=|c:1352|&Sort=0&Recs=10

(Not advertising for this website. There are many places to buy ram memory)
512MB + 512MB = 1024MB, or also stated as 1GB
1024MB = 1GB

Upgrading ram

Hi reisrui, yes it is odd. (It's not the first time I have seen this.)
According to you're manual on page 6, under Specifications. The manual say's you can run up to a Max speed of PC3200 400MHz, 1GB in slot one. In slot 2 you can run a Max of 1GB of PC2700 333MHz in slot 2. Every motherboard I have come across that can run two different speeds of memory. The system will reduce the Max speed to the lower MHz memory speed. If you currently are using 512MB PC3200 400MHz in slot 1 & add 1GB of PC3200 400MHz into slot 2 for a total of 1.5GB of memory. The motherboard will ruduce the total memory over all speed to PC2700 333MHz. Motherboards alway run at the lower memory speed if two different speeds are presant.
I can’t be 100% sure of the 1GB of PC3200 400MHz into slot 2, will run at all! Or if it will be reduce down to 333MHz. I am sure you can run 2GB of PC2700 333MHz, 1GB of memory per slot in you're board for a total of 2GB.

If I can help you further, feel free to post.
