When first turned on I can change sound, imputes and change channels then nothing works, what is the problem

have you had the freeview board off and used tv with it not on. sometimes the built in free view board can fail and use the processor speed up. so no menu etc also will affect the inputs..

Replace the main board and it should correct your issues.

if your tv is like mine ....
your tv may have a several imputs in the back so it may have a channel hdmi1 or even hdmi6. juss make sure that the channel your own matches the imput number on the tv

There should be some buttos on the side or under the screen,there will be an input button there

jtrent2- O.k you say your t.v has nothing hooked to it at all, what do normally have hooked to it. Do you normally run coax cable,or rca input. The tv is looking for your source ,hook up your regular source, and see what you get. The tv needs to see a source,of some kind. Try hooking a vcr to the cable connector on the back, play a tape and scan your channels.The tv should pick up the vcr as channel 3 or 4 and lock in. This is a common issue with HDMI. Try unplugging the TV for 2 monutes and also reset the cable box as well by inplugging.

Universal Remote should do it.

if you scan down below channel 2 doesn't video show up? otherwise there should be a input / video button

Your set should have external video and audio imput jacks besides the tuner imput for antenna,you can use the video and audio outputs from the vcr or DVD and conect them to the video and audio imputs in the tv then you can select a channel below 1 or push the switch that says Video/antenna.
