Save the file to the desired location & then right click on the same & set the password. If you know the password then only the file would open

Tip

Script to extract URLs in Excel Spreadsheets

The following script could be used to extract the actual URLs from the text link in an Excel spreadsheet. The script writes each URL in the cell next to the text link:

Sub main()
Dim h As Hyperlink

For Each h In ActiveSheet.Hyperlinks
h.Range.Offset(, 1) = h.Address
Next
End Sub

Here is how to use the script:
1. On the "Tools" menu, point to "Macro", and then click "Visual Basic Editor". This will open the Visual Basic Editor in another window.
2. On the extreme left, you will find the "Project - VBAProject". Double-click the icon named "Sheet1 (Sheet1)", "Sheet2 (Sheet2)", or whatever the name of your worksheet. This will open a blank window. Copy & paste the script into this window.
3. Press F5, then click on "Run".
4. Go back to your Excel window. You will now find the URLs listed in the next cell to the original one with the hyperlink.

Hyperlink other document in excel button

The easy way (but labor intensive) is to put the file names in a column (can be any name you want or the pdf file name), right click on a cell, hit insert hyperlink, and in the address field at bottom, put in the file pdf file name. You would have to do this for each of your 100 files.

If you want to automate it, create a column with the directory path name, a 2nd column with the full file names, a 3rd column where you concatenate the two previous columns to create the full path, and then use the hyperlink command to provide the link:

Folder name Filename Concatenated LINK ../excel/ file1.pdf ../excel/file1.pdf file1.pdf ../excel/ file2.pdf ../excel/file2.pdf file2.pdf ../excel/ file3.pdf ../excel/file3.pdf file3.pdf

Here are the formulas behind this:
A B C D Folder name Filename Concatenated LINK ../excel/ file1.pdf =CONCATENATE(A2,B2) =HYPERLINK((C2),B2)
../excel/ file2.pdf =CONCATENATE(A3,B3) =HYPERLINK((C3),B3)
../excel/ file3.pdf =CONCATENATE(A4,B4) =HYPERLINK((C4),B4)
This should work like a charm and the other advantage is that excel won't rename your path locally depending on weather a file is open or not).

When a hyperlink is in my email (Outlook Express) I can't open it

Clicking on links in eMail is the fastest known way in the Universe to have your all on-line log-ins & passwords stolen ...

So more than one mail viewer now has the ability to block this action ... I expect you will find the control in Security / Advanced settings ... however (I would suggest) on this occasion, the PC really does know better :-)
