Remote will not work when the lights are on

My garage door remote will not work if the lights are on. They turn off after 2 min. then the remote will work. Light bulbs located on the unit.
I first thought I needed new remotes so I purchased two new remote openers from Sears, they are not working at all.

Does unit work from wall button during the two minutes. I;d say this is certainly odd. Might need new board.

I have a Quanton (3212) garage door opener. The

Hi,

We need to reset the opener unit on the wall. Unplug the wall unit. Wait for atleast 2 min. Then plugin again. Try the remote. This could solve your problem.

If it is still not working, you need to re-program the remote control to the power head.
Use the following steps:
Press the "PROGRAM" button on the garage door motor head unit once. A light "PROGRAM STATUS" will tell you that you have done so. The light will be on for around a min. In this time press the button on your remote. The light will turn off. Try opening the door with the remote now. Repeat if required. If this does not work, you will need to contact the dealer.

Factory garage door opener

If this is the 3 button HomeLink Transmitter usually centered overhead above the rear-view mirror, this should work:

While the engine is turned off follow these steps to program up to three channels:
1. Decide which one of the 3 channels (one of the 3 HomeLink buttons) you want to program.
2. Press & hold the desired button through step 3.
3. When the HomeLink indicator light begins to blink slowly(this may take up to 30 seconds), hold your hand-held garage door remote about 1 to 3 inches away from the buttons & then press and hold the button on your garage door remote. Continue to hold both buttons until the indicator light on the HomeLink begins to flash rapidly(this may take up to 90 seconds).

If it still doesn't work, make sure the batteries in your garage remote are not weak, and try again moving the remote back & forth and left & right or turning it upside down while programming.

Also note HomeLink will not work with older garage door openers, especially not with ones manufactured before April 1st 1982.

Remote works only when Garage Door Opener light is OFF

I discovered that certain light bulbs interfere with the remote sensors. Harware stores have clear vibration reisistant bulbs for garage doors, try them instead. After spending money on a new remote, resetting remotes, and weeks of aggravation...poof.....i found it was the type of bulb I was using. Used a clear bulb and the problem went away. Hope this helps.

Remote not working

you will need to train (link) the remote to the garage door opener. to do this you will need to find the remote "train" button on the operator.
If you have the manual for the garge door opener this will show you where it is located.
push the train button on the operator, an LED light will start blinking. Then push one of the buttons on the remote. the LED light on the operator will stay on. push the button on the remote again and the light on the operator will turn off.
try the remote it should work now.

Does your wall switch have a lock feature? By pressing the lock button, the remote control is disabled. A flashing light indicates this feature has been activated.

To deactivate, press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds. The flashing should stop and your remote should work again.
