Take the glass tray out and unplug it. Remove the 2 or three phillips screws in the top of the cabinet going into the micro. They should be towards the front. Hold up on it while removing screws. When all screws are out, let it tilt forward and lift it up off of the hooks. Some require help, so be carefull and put blankets on your stove to set it on when it first comes out.

I need to remove a spacemaker microwave from over the stove. I have removed all the screws that I can see and it's still rock solid. Suggestions?

As I recall the only 2 or 3 long screws that you need to remove are in the cabinet directly above the microwave. You will also, of course need to unplug the microwave above it as well. Is should now hinge down, as the back edge hooks onto a mounting plate on back wall.

Can you put and over-the-counter microwave over a stove?

Yes, that is what they are made for, As long as it has a vent that can be used to vent the smoke from cooking it can be mounted over the stove. Normally the bottom of the microwave should be mounted 16" to 19" above the stove top. The microwave must have a vent with a blower motor in order to be used above a stove top. Most have a thermal switch that will turn the microwave vent on once the temperature reaches a set point.

Stove fire smoke on microwave above stove.what will clean off this smoke residue? we encountered a stove which left a heavy smoke residue on the microwave above. the microwave has a plastic handle and...

Mr. Muscle Kitchen cleaner will remove the smoke. It won't hurt the plastic. Just make sure to either wear rubber gloves or wash your hands soon after cleaning off the smoke residue. It will make the skin on your hands / fingers slick and then dry after your done. Let the cleaner sit for about a minute before trying to wipe off the smoke residue.

Remove a whirlpool over the range microwave oven

Jim here. In cabinet above microwave, locate 2 mounting bolts.
Place a box on the stove top to support the microwave once the mounting bolts are removed (you may wish to cover the box with a thick towel or small throw rug).
Procedure:
1. Unplug microwave.
2. Remove both mounting bolts from top of microwave (they secure it to the overhead cabinet).
3. With microwave front angled down onto box, pull some of power cord out of hole (to provide some moving space).
4. With microwave hand supported, remove box from stove top (a second set of hands would be helpful here).
5. HARD PART- detach top of microwave back from wall mounting plate by placing a hand under the bottom rear of the microwave and pushing up. (Wall mounting plate is screwed into the wall behind the microwave and provides both top and bottom support to the back of the microwave.)
6. Lower front of microwave until you can see about a 1-inch clearance between the top-rear of the microwave and the cabinet above it.
7. Firmly lift the microwave straight up and then bring forward. It should be free of the wall mounting plate.

Does stove-top need downdraft if microwave has oven-hood combo?

We have a stove with no downdraft, and a microwave with a hood above it. It works just fine. I expect you could keep your downdraft and put a microwave without a hood above it, and that would also work. I don't think, however, you can buy an above the range mocrowave oven, that slides in on brackets, which will not have a hood.
