You might try going into the display settings and making sure that first, your resolution is set correctly for the monitor and secondly that all the settings to put the screen to sleep or hibernate after so many minutes is set to never on both battey powered and wall powered.

SOURCE: Emachine 19" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

Your power/inverter board is in need of an overhaul.
The capacitors are failing and possibly a transistor.
If the screen showed any redness or pink whebn it was working, Then there is a slight chance that one or more of the 4 lightbulbs in the screen was going bad and finally went.
If you take it apart and send me a picture, I may be able to tell by looking at it.
I repair these boards on ebay

SOURCE: Dell E173FPc 17" TFT when turned on goes black

Hi Gaz,

First, verify the monitor is functional.
Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
Turn off the monitor
Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
Turn on the monitor
The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background.
If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective. What are the results please?

Why does my HP vs17 monitor screen keep going to blank black screen like it turned off but did'nt.....blue power button light is still on? Everything is running but no picture.....keeps happening everytime...

this old monitor has 2 issues.
1: it has CCFL tubes that love to burn out (backlamps)
most this old are long go, yell, dim.,blinking or DEAD.
2: push the menu button on front of mon. turn off power saver.

3: if the PC goes to sleep, or hibernete mode (parked)
then that is 100% normal
if you dont like feature then go to windows control panel
click power, ICON and turn off all monitor sleep /hibernate modes.

that assumes windows, no OS stated.

if the lamps are dead,
use flash light pointed to sceen, see data. ? bingo for bad CCFT tubes.
as seen here

I cant get my monitor out of power saving mode? What do I do?

Hi,

There are various steps to fix this issue.

Step 1.

For Vista and Win 7 PC

1.Go to Control Panel - Power Options

2.On the Left side there is a column - " Click Change when the computer sleeps

3.Click the drop-down box which says Put the computer to sleep and select 'Never' for both battery and 'plugged in'

4.Click 'Save changes'

For Windows XP

1. Go to Start - Control Panel - Power Options

3. Click Apply/Ok and you're done.

Step 2

Monitor keeps going into sleep mode and it won't turn on so i can use it.

Monitors go to SLEEP mode when there is no computer signal coming into them. As soon as a computer signal reaches the monitor, it will automatically wake up and show the images in the screen.

Amber colored power light on eMachine W3503

The amber power light indicates that your computer has been "sleeping" or "hibernating" and usually all it takes to restart the computer is tapping a key on the keyboard. If this is not the case, try holding the Power switch down for 6-10 seconds to force the system off. Restart in Safe Mode and try to find the settings for Sleep/hibernate, open the control panel and open the Screen Saver. Select "Change Power Settings" and set it for "Never" on sleep and hybernate.

Computer screen says imput not supported what do i do?

i believe at boot you should hold f8 for advanced booting options, and then select safe mode, which will start the computer in a lower resolution graphix. from there, set the resolution down on the display. right click on the desktop and select properties or personalize, then look for the display setings for screen resolution. its prolly set to 1680 x 1050, and needs to be set to something around 1280x768 or something: maybe its set to a different aspect ration or just plain different size.
