Thanks for the info. I want to try and do the task myself. The repairman charges $80 just for showing up. $400 to replace the IC. The repair kit online I found for $46. I am handy with a soldering iron. I just can't seem to figure out how to remove the board out of the tv in order to remove and replace the STK392-110 and some resistors.

It's the 4 white connectors that bridge the 2 boards. One mounts the adjustments for all the colors and the jacks to connect the RCA connectors and antenna. The other for the ICs. There are 4 white pin connectors that mounts (bridge) these two boards together. Also, two wires that looks like spark plug wires with rubber boots on either end that I cannot disconnect. I tried twisting clockwise and counterclock wise with no luck. I hope you can help me with this problem. Again the service manual does not have a procedure for removal of these items.

The convergence IC's need to be replaced. The generic part # on them is STK392-110. This is not easily done by yourself.

There is about ten brass screws that need to be removed including some right in the middle of the board. Almost all the wires and connectors have to come off as well. Make sure you mark them as some are the same size and so are interchangeable.

Nikon d-90, shadows in pictures

if you're using pop up flash, you'll get more shadows doing a portrait shot than a landscape shot just due to the position of the flash bulb and the angle the shadows are cast.

Picture blurred with yellow cast

Its a Dlp that uses a lamp---the yellow cast suggests a damaged Optical light Engine----Google the model number with problems and you may learn more---if the engine is bad it may not be cost effective to repair the set.

Grey bands and shadowing

Uninstall the video driver from the Computer, restart the Computer then reinstall it. Furthermore, check for any updates for the video drivers.

You may also connect the monitor to any other normally functioning Computer to check if the lines remain there.

If it's so then the monitor requires servicing.

Panasonic projection Model #PT-53TW53 displays double images and projects shadows on all text. Scrolling banner on bottom of TV scrolls slightly upwards and back down with shadows over text.

This is failure of convergence out ICs in TV that will be replaced, requires soldering work to replace two big ICs STK392-110 (convergence out) on main board. If you are not comfortable with replacing ICs, ask help from local TV repair shop.
Required ICs are available in Part Store.
Thanks.

Printer output has shadows, blurring, streaks, lines, poor color

Seem like blocked hole(s) on the color print head...
Most likely if there is a deep clean option then do it (may need a few times to unblock a hole or never).
Also get the printer physically cleaned up if you can see dusts inside (vrtical lines on color bars).

Shadow images and scrolling banner curves upward and back down.

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Yellowish tint on faces, shadows, gold backgrounds

Check the white balance setting of the camera. As you have a yellow cast, it could be because you are using it in Fluorescent (or Tubelight) setting. Changing this to Auto should solve this problem.
