Motor hums then clicks off

Pump is a 3 horse and on a timer to turn on and off. usually on daily about 12 hours for a large waterfall feature. it was working fine then it did not turn back on the next day. I checked the timer and breaker and both were on but no water flow and pump would not start. when I flip the breaker off, then back to the on position, all I get is a humming noise for maybe 15 seconds then a click and it shuts off .

thank you

Has the motor seemed a little slower in starting than usual? If so then you probably have a weak or defective motor capacitor. Try switching out with a new one. They are inexpensive.Try to turn the motor shaft at rear (under end cap) while it attempts to start. If the motor kicks on then replace capacitor.

My stereo keeps turning off when I listen to a station 101.5 in New Jersey

The only thing that can be is that you have set a timer "sleep" function for that station. I have looked at the manual and it states you can programme a sleep setting for a radio station.
The instructions are on page 12. But I have extracted them below:

1 Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.

2 Press and hold the CLOCK/TIMER button.

3 Within 10 seconds, press the or button

to select "ONCE" or "DAILY", and press the MEMORY

button. Set the clock to the correct time if "ONCE" or

"DAILY" does not appear.

4 Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select

"ONCE SET" or "DAILY SET", and press the MEMORY

button.

5 To adjust the hour, press the or button and then

press the MEMORY button.

6 To adjust the minutes, press the or button and

then press the MEMORY button.

7 Set the time to fi nish as in steps 5 and 6 above.

8 To select the timer playback source (CD, TUNER, USB,

iPhone/iPod, TAPE or AUDIO IN), press the or

button. Press the MEMORY button.

When you select the tuner, select a station by pressing

the or button, and then press the MEMORY

button. If a station has not been programmed, "NO

PRESET" will be displayed and timer setting will be

canceled.

9 Adjust the volume using the VOLUME control, and then

press the MEMORY button. Do not turn the volume up

too high.

10 Press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the power

stand-by mode. The "TIMER" indicator lights up and

the unit is ready for timer playback.

11 When the preset time is reached, playback will start.

The volume will increase gradually until it reaches the

preset volume. The "?" or "DAILY" indicator will blink

during timer playback.

12 When the timer end time is reached, the system will

enter the power stand-by mode automatically.

Once timer:

The timer will be canceled.

Daily timer:

The timer operates at the same time every day. It

will continue until the daily timer setting is canceled.
Cancel the daily timer when it is not in use.

Waterfall pump hums but won't pump

this sure sounds if the impeller is blocked and not being able to turn ,Dont let it run this way , can dammage motor of pump , remove intake cover (unplugged) and wash out with garden hose real well , see if impeller (black plastic blade) can turn with your finger (unplugged) , should move easy ! this might be an indacation of need for a filter on pump inlet !!!

Brand new! Never had a pool before. I find no instructions in the manual for adding salt. We bought salt and on the bag it said to add to skimmer. When we did it stopped up the filter immediately upon...

Spread around the edge of pool with a cup. Make sure it's pool salt and not rock salt or pellets. Will take some time to do, large pools will take up to 350 lbs of salt and careful not to get into eyes. Run pump only for 24 hours to properly dissolve and then you can program your unit. If large pool, start at 10 to 12 hours pump with 8 to 10 hours chlorinating.Check daily for chlorine level and adjust from there... Good luck!

I need to know how to set this timer for a large swimming pool, and how long I need it to run, to keep it clean. I believe it is about 35,000 gals., in-ground pool.

You have Intermatic mechanical timer connected to swimming pool pump/filter.
Open following link to read about setting timer:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/How-to-operate-and-set-T104-timer.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html
Lift and rotate dial until current time is lined up with stationary pointer.
Put on-off trippers on outer edge of dial.
Timer comes with 2 sets of trippers, and you can order replaceable trippers. Up to 12 sets of trippers can be added to dial for a total of 12 ON and 12 OFF events each 24-hour period.
For 35000 gallon, pump should run at least 6 hours each 24-hour period. During freezing weather, if pipes are above ground, you can remove trippers from dial, set override lever to ON position, and run pump 24-hours to prevent frozen pipes.

I have a Century 1081 115v, 2 speed pump for my waterfeature. The motor runs fine in low and high spped, the pump impeller is spinning but it dies not pump water. It is a 3/4 horse. The waterfall reservoir...

I don't know the answer to this ... your pool service company can advise you. To my way of thinking, you are asking a lot of a 3/4 horse. I have a 1 1/2 horse lifting water in a two inch pipe about 4 feet to my water feature with no reservoir.

Since you have a two inch pipe, why not run a bigger motor? I have two HP on all my filtered lines which are 2" suction and 2" discharge.

Are you absolutely sure you have suction? ... and no air leaks on the suction side?

I have a Woods TM1710 outdoor timer and the instructions are not very clear. First, what is the manual overide switch. Second, what are all the on/off positions on the dial for. Third, which part of the...

Woods timers and manuals
Woods TM1710 shows at page bottom, and does not have online manual that I can find
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html

TH1710 is a promotional timer for outdoor use.
TD series and TM series timers are evidently sold at a price point, and not made with same features as more expensive timers.

That being said, TM1710 has a dial that rotates as time passes.
Poor image quality is hard to make out, but dial looks like 12 hour.
If this is true, then time programs repeat each 12 hours.
Set timer and the lights turn on-off during am hours, and then cycle repeats for pm hours.
Kinda silly to make 12-hour outdoor repeat timer since you want outdoor lights ON during pm but not am. But cheap prices sway we shoppers who later discover a saw horse that is supposed to balance on 2 legs.

To set ON-OFF times, there are segments located around outer edge of dial.
Pull segments up or leave them pushed down to set ON-OFF.
Most timers are OFF during hours when segments are pulled up, and ON when segments down, but this timer may be opposite.

Manual override is button or switch that overrides timer functions and turns light ON full time.
Again poor image quality makes it impossible to see manual override, but it looks like manual override is white button to lower right of dial.
If that button is manual override, then it appears to rotate.
Usually you set override one direction to override, and other direction for timer to operate

I have a Polaris LR51044 pump that is not working. When I turn it on it "hums" but won't pump water. I live in Baton Rouge, La. and we have had freezing or below freezing weather for the last 2 days. The...

Usually when a polaris booster pump hums it means 1 of 2 things; either the starting capacitor needs to be replaced (its located under the black hump on top of the motor) or the pump is bad. Most likely the starting capacitor needs to be replaces. This is where you should start since the capcitor is only $20-$30. Get a new capacitor from a local pool store, shut the power off to the motor, remove two screws on each side of black hump on top of motor, remove two wires from starting capacitor and install wires on new capacitor, replace cover and turn the pump on. If that doesn't work you will need to replace the motor.
