First thing i would try is power cycling your equipment. Unplug the router and the Modem-
Plug the modem in first and once all the lights come on- plug in your router- then restart your computer.

How to connect my Linksys router with my wi tribe modem?? my laptop pick up the wireless signal and can connect,,it says "connected" but when you open a page it says either "invalid server...

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.

I have a linksys wireless router and I connected to router but when I try to go to a web site I get the error not connected to the internet

That only means your router is not properly setup.
If you still have the cd that came with the product , just ran the cd and follow the instructions. If you dont have a Cd , you can setup the router manually by logging into the router web interface.
The address of the router is http://192.168.1.1 No username and password is admin. ( this is the default)
Once you get inside the router page, just setup the unit based from your ISP settings.
If you want a walk thru on this step, it would be good to call linksys techsupport at 1800linksys.

Cheers,
KJ

Cannot connect thru linksys router to internet. I can connect with direct cable but when connected to linksys does not connect.

Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Router will not work wireless after switch from DSL to cable

You can go to 192.168.1.1
Enter the default username(leave it blank) and password(admin) and enter the router page

Under setup--> basic setup you can configure your ISP settings
Under wireless you can configure wireless username password etc

If still unable to connect wireless mention the operating system

Computer repair tech said Linskey wireless caused internet prob

If you are using DSL as your internet connection there is a timeout period that could be setup in the linksys.

In order to change this you need to log into your router and on check on the setup page. You see the timeout option.

Check with your linksys manual for detailed instructions for logging into the unit. If you dont have it, you can always get it from their website.

Cannot get on the internet

Hi

The problem was in the wep key. I entered the old wep key, not recalling that we had to trade our router in for a new one last summer. When I entered the new wep key we were able to get online.

My lap top connecting to my wireless system.

Your computer is not yet connected to the wireless network of the router. Also, make sure that your wireless computer has a wireless adapter installed on it. You may verify it on the Device Manager. If you're using a laptop with built in wireless adapter , make sure that the switch for the wireless connection is on so that it will detect the signal of the router.

Try configuring or verifying the wireless settings of the router first by following the steps on this link:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4585&p_created=1165894972&p_sid=RY2yXS3j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTAwNiZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTE3MjEsMTcyMyZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PTIuMTcyMyZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD13aXJlbGVzcyBzZWN1cml0eQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

After configuring or verifying the wireless settings of the router, connect your wireless computer by following the steps on this link:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4055&p_created=1160185039&p_sid=RY2yXS3j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTAyNSZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTE3MjEsMTcyMyZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PTIuMTcyMyZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1jb25uZWN0aW5n&p_li=&p_topview=1

If you cannot still connect wirelessly, let me know of the following:
- model number of the router
- operating system of the computer
- wireless adapter installed on the computer (built in or external)
- brand of wireless adapter installed
- wireless settings of the router (SSID, wireless security)

Ps3

Are you going to connect your PS3 wired to your router or wireless?
1. check first if ps3 is working behind rca modem.
2. then connect a pc directly to your linksys router
3. open configuration page of linksys by typing your gateway on your browser. (usually it is by default 192.168.1.1)
4. go to applications and gaming tab
5. you'll find there port forwarding..key in your number there
> i guess your numbers are like 88 and 3764 (something like that)
6. if your trying to connect your playstation wirelessly, you need to know your wireless security (if your router is secured).
> go to wireless tab and look for wireless security
> get your key
7. go back to playstation and try to view your wireless network
> connect and type in your key

=)
