How to Install an Operating System on an External USB Hard Drive:

You may have an external hard drive you want to use for more than just document backup.
In this situation, you can install an operating system onto your external hard drive. By doing so, you will be able to run your external hard drive as a fully functional operating system.
If your primary hard drive ever crashes, you will have a backup option unavailable to those who simply use their external hard drives as file and document backup.

1) Plug your external Hard Drive into your Computer using the USB cable. Insert the installation disk for your Operating System into the CD/DVD Drive. Turn on or restart your Computer.

2) Boot from the installation disk. You may have to press a key once prompted to boot from the installation disk.

3) Accept the license terms and conditions. Read through these carefully if you wish to understand your legal rights as a user. If you disagree with these terms and conditions, you may want to purchase a different Operating System.

4) Choose your destination drive. Your external Hard Drive will likely be the E: or F: drive. By default, the C: will represent your main Hard Drive and the D: will usually represent your CD/DVD Drive.

5) Begin the installation. Your external Hard Drive will install the Operating System. You will now be able to run that Operating System off of your external hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Erase hard drive hp1055

In service test menu scroll to "3.Hard disc drive", & press enter, if test drive passed don't replace the hard disc or modification or changes. If test failed then check as shown below:
1 Switch the printer OFF. Remove the EIO Card (if installed) and re-install the Hard Disk Drive making sure it installed correctly by pushing it firmly inwards and checking that the two installation screws are completely tightened. Switch the printer ON again and repeat the Hard Disk Drive Test. If the Hard Disk Drive Test fails again then replace the Hard Disk Drive.
2 If the Hard Disk Drive Test passed after removing the EIO Card, then switch the Printer OFF and reinstall the EIO Card, making sure that the two installation screws are completely tightened.
Switch the Printer ON again and repeat the Hard Disk Drive Test. If the Hard Disk Drive Test fails, then the EIO Card could be faulty.Replace the EIO Card.
3 If the Hard Disk Drive Test continues to fail after replacing the EIO card or the Hard Disk Drive, then replace the Electronics Module..
I am having little knowledge, if I am wrong Pl don't comment, pl forgive me.

Asus laptop will not boot up after install of new hard drive

If your ASUS laptop uses a SATA hard drive -

SATA HARD DRIVE - XP INSTALLATION
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Installation problem

It means the install cannot see or detect the hard disk and is caused by :-
Incorrect BIOS setting for the hard drive.
or
A faulty hard drive.
or
The hard drive is not seated correctly on the hard drive connector.

Test the hard drive in another laptop or attach the hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port, if it see the drive as an external drive and you can copy and delete files to this drive then it is OK and the fault is with the laptop.
