I have an Amana Dehumidifier Model D965E-E purchased at BJ's and am unable to locate the owner's manual. I want to drain it continuously through the port in the rear of the machine rather than fill the bucket. Do I need to remove the bucket for activate the drain in the rear or return the bucket to its original position? Is there a way to access a free owner's manual online. The Amana website does not recognize this model number even though it is currently being sold through Amazon and Overstock.

Hi, had the same problem. Not a glogging one. I have the model DDR503H. If it is insisting on filling the reservoir, it is because you haven't put the cap you removed from de back of the unit to plug the hose on the tank water exit. You have to first remove the tank and on the roof of this space, you will see the water tank exit where you can screw the cap removed from the back. You place back the tank into the unit and now the water won't have other choice then leak thru the hose. Also. to clean up the filter, I don't need to unscrew the top cover. I just remove the tank and on the roof of the space, there is a grey handle with arrows on it and I just pulled down, it comes out and you can then clean it up.

Please try the following:
1) Remove the bucket.
2) You will notice a round outlet/spout where the water drips from into the bucket.
3) Remove the plug from the backside of the unit (you will now see a hole to the bucket area).
4) Feed a hose through the hole from the back and attach the end of the hose to the round outlet/spout.
5) Place the other end of the hose on a floor drain outlet.
6) Put the bucket back into the unit.

When the unit is turned on, the water will now flow through the hose instead (into the floor drain). When you want to use the bucket again to capture the water, you will need to remove the hose.

You may have an unintentional trap in the line (an up and down up and down. Hose has to lay flat on floor to drain.

I have the same Danby unit and the same problem. When you take out the water bucket look inside and find the two holes where the water drips into the bucket. These holes are approximately 5/16" and 3/8" diameter. These holes need to be plugged. Your local hardware store has an assortment of specialized parts boxes. Find the box that contains "corks" of various sizes. They sell for about 20¢ apiece. I bought 5 within that size catagory and two of them worked! Problem solved.
