This trouble maybe power supply or inverter boards is defective.

Go to Dell website and find the customer service if it is in the warranty. If not go get the technician to check it.

I have not answered the question about this problem, however someone else told me that I would have to change my graphics card to take full advantage of the features of the X223W monitor. But they did not know what I had to change it to.

yes. you will need to know what connection you have on your dell video card. the standard is svga. the other is dvi. you may need a convertor or adaptor.

My new V223W occasionally does the same - flickering black lines across the screen.It then becomes unstable, blacking out momentarily before returning to the flickering display again.It's quite unusable in this state and a reboot usually restores it to normal status. Running XP and ATI Radeon 9250 AGP 128Mb graphics card. I note the driver is dated August 2004, so its not new, but performs adequately most of the time for normal (non gaming) use.
