When I press the cycle I want, i.e. Heavy Wash, the green lights go on but when I press Start nothing happens at all. After about 20 seconds the lights go out and that's it. I had also been noticing that lately it seemed to be taking longer and longer for it to run. The last time it did work (a couple of weeks ago) it stopped in the middle of the cycle for no reason leavint a glob of soap at the bottom. I also noticed that when I wanted to do the delay cycle that the green indicator lights - just to the delay, i.e. 2hour, did not light up any more.
I tried selecting different cycles, i.e. Light wash and even just Rinse, and still nothing. I also turned the power to it off and back on hoping to rest. Nothing will work.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you.

My research indicates that this is a control board malfunction, but with so many different descriptions of failure, I am left confused.

If the machine runs a while and then drains, it is like that there is a leak and the leak sensor has been activated. There is a tray between the base of the machine and the kitchen floor.
Please double check that you've cleaned out any old food stuck at bottom or sides of dishwasher. Also, please not the last time the dishwasher worked and whether you performed any new procedures just after this point.
You can also check the dishwasher manual's troubleshooting section to help overcome this issue. Thank you.
You haven't told me how many times the light flashes, but I will take a guess that this is an error code associated with the water entering the machine being too cool. I believe the machine expects the water to enter at 110 degrees F (43 Degrees C).
To clear the error, press "Heated Dry" then release, then press "Normal Wash" then release and repeat this sequence until all the lights on the machine go solid green. Once this happens, hit ""Cancel" and the machine will reset.
The fix for the root of the problem is to increase the temperature of the incoming water in future (Turn up your water heater temperature a little)
Perhaps a safety switch somewhere. I would check inside for a utensil that fell down into the impeller or the like. Also look at the door latch area; maybe a switch there is not closing properly.
my husband found the solution on line when he googled the problem. He read that the drain could have been blocked, or it said press the drain button. That did the trick, and now I have clean dishes! He didn't have to pay anyone to solve the problem which was nice.
We have a Maytag Dishwasher that won't start. The only button that lights up is the "Heavy Wash" cyle. When this button is pressed, the "Heated Dry", "Sanatize" and "Extra Rinse" lights up. The dishwasher doesn't start. Eventually all of the lights go out. the buttons start/cancel do not light up.could you in some way help?
Thank you.
on a dishwasher an ohmmeter is almost useless. the best way to check is to look for voltage. at the door switch check for voltage to ground on both sides. if you have 120 on both sides of the switch then follow the wire over to the control board. if you have 120 going into the control board and nothing coming out of the control then you nood to start looking for a broken neutral. however the likelyhood that its the control panel may be a better idea especially if you are hitting buttons and nothing happens. try reseating any ribbon cables
