On a Polaroid 600 you won't find one: the 6v battery is built into the photo pack, so every time you load a photo pack you get a new battery.

Beware of old stock photo packs though unless they're *very* cheap; there's a significant risk that they won't be usable due to a dead battery.

My digicam won't start

There could be a couple of reasons why your camera would not start.

Before considering it to be defective, verify that the camera has batteries inside and that these batteries are charged. To do this:

  1. Locate and open the battery compartment.
  2. Identify the type of batteries needed and purchase new ones OR
  3. Recharge the batteries with the recharger provided.
  4. Place the new/charged batteries inside, closing the battery compartment.
  5. Try to turn on the camera.
If the camera still doesn't work after verifying that the batteries are in order, remove the memory card and any other accessories that the camera may have and try turning it on again.

If still the camera won't turn on, one last step can be performed if and only if your camera uses standard batteries (AA or AAA). If this step is performed incorrectly, you could short circuit the batteries, which would discharge them. This procedure will not damage the camera if performed correctly. Please pay attention and do exactly as explained:
  1. Locate and open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the batteries.
  3. Place the batteries back inside in the opposite direction than the one indicated. If the position indicated is for the positive end first, place the battery with the negative end first. Do this process for all the batteries.
  4. Close the battery compartment.
  5. Attempt to turn on the camera. It will not turn on, but this step is necessary nonetheless.
  6. Open the battery compartment.
  7. Remove the batteries.
  8. Place the batteries in the correct position according to the indication.
  9. Close the battery compartment.
  10. Attempt to turn on the camera.
If the camera still does not work, it is likely that it is defective. At this point you should take the camera to an authorized service center.

Does the 600 take batteries? If so, where is the battery compartment? I have had one for years and can't remember.

There's a battery included in every film pack. The camera does not take a separate battery.

My SB 600 flash won't turn on. I replaced the batteries and still won't turn on. Anything else I can do?

Answering a question with a question may solve your problem.
The batteries you took out of the flash unit were they dead and how long had they been sitting in the flash? If the batteries had no life left and had been sitting for some time it's possible that there is corrosion in the battery compartment. That corrosion will look like white powder or could even be black. You will need to get that out of there and clean the contacts, don't get that stuff on you or blow in the compartment in case you have it come up into your face or eyes. If the compartment is clean it's a good possibility that the batteries were installed incorrectly all it takes is one to be out of sequence and it wont' work.

Polaroid one step 600

The battery is included in the film pack. If you open the film door you will see the battery contacts in the lower side of the compartment. These line up with the battery holes (looks like foil in the holes) in the film pack. If you have an old film pack and no power the battery in the old pack may be dead.

Nikon sb-600

Does the flash turn on when you push the battery door down? By push it, I mean HARD... If so, you might be able to cure this by getting some jewelry screwdrivers and flexing IN the metal contacts in the battery compartment door to increase the battery contact.. just be careful not to break the metal (but if you do, a replacement battery cover is about $16)
