It's possible you have damaged the gas control valve or damaged the sensors in the heat chamber which are relatively easy to replace. They work on a safety system which will shut down all operations if they aren't performing properly, especially the gas regulator valve.

SOURCE: Dryer won't stay on

When you turn your start switch it gives temporary power to the motor and then centrifugal switch in the motor kicks in and gives power to the motor until the timer stops it or the door is opened.Your motor centrifugal switch could be bad due to poor contact or heavy linting in and around the motor.Vacuum inside the dryer specially around the motor. If it doesn't fix it you have to buy a new motor, centrifugal switch cannot be bought separately.

Sounds like the motor is cutting out on its thermal fuse. The only cure is to change the motor.

SOURCE: press the start button on dryer, it hums but wont

Sounds like a weak motor. You'll have to get a new motor installed. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to install yourself on that type of machine if you are handy. Motor is located in the bottom right of the machine, attached to the drum belt through a small pulley underneath the drum next to the motor.

The most common problems with this problem is that there is a fuse that has blown in the dryer or that the door switch has failed and needs to be replaced or the timer switvch or the motor it'sef has went out (NOT LIKLEY) THOUGH
Or THE dryers push start button is faulty
so please check these things out and replace any parts that are found to be defective

Hope this is very helpful for you best regards Mike

Dryer gets hot but clothes has to run 3-4 cycles to dry

Check that you have emptied the lint filter, the container that catches the water from the clothes if it has one and also anything at the bottom that needs to be cleaned regularly. I had the same problem and didn't know about cleaning the filter at the bottom. I did this and all was well.

Basement flooded and got approx 12 inches of water in bottom of dryer let sit for a week to dry before trying when pushing start button will come on but wont continue running unless you hold button in ...

Sorry to say but you will need to replace the motor. After water gets in you can rarely save the motor no matter how long you let it dry. There is an internal over load inside the motor that is cutting out after 30 seconds and once it cools for 15 or 20 minutes then it resets .Hope you found this information helpful and thank you for using Fix ya.

The clothes say damp forever, but are hot with steam coming from them, need to keep dryer on forever to get them dry! (dryer is 3+ years old)

If steam is coming from your clothes that is an indication that your heater element is operating. But not getting dry in a reasonable amount of time could be either a simplre problem or a more difficult one. Let's start with the simple things!

1. Check your lint trap - if you use softner sheets; then do the water test. Pull the lint trap all the way out and clean it as normal, then take it to the sink and run water onto it. If the water didn't pass IMMEDIATELY through it, then you will need to take something link a toothbrush to clean it - just brush all areas of the screen and rinse. Keep doing that until all water passes through immediately.

2. Your dryer exhaust. Pull the dryer away from the wall - after unplugging it. And disconnect the dryer vent. If you have any buildup clean the hose thoroughly and vacuum it out also. And make sure that your pass through to the outside is not blocked either.

3. Is the dryer drum turning? If it is then your belt and motor are okay - if not you will have to open up the cabinet and replace which one is malfuntioning.

4. If the other three are all okay, then it is probably the thermostat not working properly and you will need to replace it.

Hope you don't have to get to 3 and 4 and can fix your problem without anything more than some labor on your part.

Hi, I'm having a problem with my new dryer. We got this dryer about a year ago and for some reason in the last couple months, almost every 2 weeks the fuze blows. The dryer turns on but it doesn't...

Makecertain that your wiring is not exposed to anything. Be sure to turn the power off to the dryerand check the outlet. Also check to seeif your dryer cord is connected to the dryer right. Usually the outer prongs on the dryer are thehot and in the inner one is the ground.

Inside of my maytag atlantis electric dryer...top layer is erodin

I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT THE FINISH COMING OF EXPOSING ANYTHING TOXIC. WHAT COULD HAPPEN IS THAT WITH TIME, THE DRUM MAY RUST AND TRANSFER IT ONTO THE CLOTHES. DEPENDING ON ITS CONDITION, IT SEEMS NEW ENOUGH TO WARRANT INSTALLING A NEW DRUM. I DONT KNOW IF A COATING OF PORCALINE SPRAY PAINT WOULD STAND UP TO THE CONDITIONS IN THE DRYER BUT IT MAY BE WORTH A SHOT AS I DONT KNOW OFF HAND WHAT A DRUM SELLS FOR.

Mytag Dryer ModelLdg4000Aw

I have a Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer that will turn on, rotate, but will not get hot and dry the clothes. A load of clothes in the afternoon, didn’t dry, tried again but didn’t dry – went to bed after putting on auto dry - next morning the dryer was still rotating and didn’t turn off. No hot air – only cold air.
