Blower motor runs but dies out..

I have an Amana heat pump and I noticed that the blower motor wasn’t running anymore. So I replaced the start-up capacitor and when I turned the breaker back on it started right up and was running for about a 1 min, then the motor sounded like it was dying out. Eventually the blower would stop and "hum". I tried installing the old capacitor and the results are the same. I did notice if I turned the breakers off for 5 or so minutes and turn it on, the blower would start up again and die out. But if the breakers were switched off and back on, the blower wouldn’t do anything, so it seems like something is heating up and cutting power to the blower. Also the trouble light is flashing "6" = system error. I appreciate your help in advance!!

Hi I'm Steve... Amana SSE80 Furnace Model GUIC070CA40 MFG # P1229003F Furnace works but air handler blower stops after 5 1/2 minutes, burner continues till high-T limiter triggered (See details)

Motor might be bad and shutting down on thermal protection. Is this a direct drive or belt driven ? .if belt driven try adjusting the belt tension or just replaced the motor

Dear Sir,I have an Amana Distinction 2.0 Ton heat pump, SEER 14 installed in my department about 4 months ago. I've noticed that the AC has a regular pattern running in the on/off cycle and that i

You need a tech. All 14 seer units have an X13 motor which speeds up and down on start up. A tech will adjust your tstat programing. Fan stays on after unit is done cooling to help drain water in cooling and cool off heat strips in heating,

Amana heat pump emergency heat comes on but blower will not start. The call for heat comes in and the heating element(s) glow red for a few seconds and then there is a "click" and the heating...

Check the blower motor capicator. It should be mounted close to the motor with 2 wires to it (brown,brown/white).
Turn the blower on the thermostat and spin the squirrel cage by hand and see if it runs after by itself. If it does then definitely the capicator is bad .If it still doesn't run then check to see if there is voltage going to motor.
If thermostat is calling for fan and there is voltage present at the motor terminal then the motor is bad

When the unit is turned on. I can hear the AC pump kick on and run. But the blower fan motor will not turn on at any fan speed. No setting on the AC will get the blower fan to turn on?

Sounds like then fan has died or the run capacitor has die. All motors that run on single phase mains need a capacitor to start them spinning. These are quite cheap & simple to replace usually - worth just replacing if you feel you can't test it. Looks a bit like a 'D' cell battery with 2 leads hanging out. Could also be that the unit is not cooling/heating and the temp sensor will not activate fan until heating/cooling coolant has passed room temp. - Rick

Mod# PTH093A35AC: Unit has quit running. Blower appears to be frozen up. Prior to non-functioning it was making a loud clicking sound while running in heat mode, almost like coils were freezing up....

yes the blower can be replaced / not all that difficult have a screw gun ready though...several screws to gain access.... the unit normally comes as a sealed system (meaning no actually service ports to add freon but can be ported and a tap added to check and add refrigerant to system... these heat pump systems are great when working correctly ,but when it does drop below 20-25 degrees outside they will start to freeze as the defrost cycles in them are normally not very long and the unit cant keep up so in return they will start to freeze up, however if the blower motor started to go out and unit was running it will freeze up on you.... hope this info helps out feel free to repost with anymore questions you may have.....

Outside heating unit runs all the time

Usually when the furnace blower motor runs all the time
The limit switch or rollout switch is usually open or bad.
The furnace board is seeing that one of those switches is open, so it brings the blower on to try to get the heat out of the combustion chamber area, so the switch will close. But if the switch is bad and won’t close, the furnace board will keep the blower running continuously.

Blower motor runs but dies out..

When it does this carefully feel the end of the blower motor. If it is too hot to touch,Replace the blower motor.
Your 5 minute off sequence allows the motor to cool enough for a restart.
