Please test it using other USB keyboard and USB mouse, and see the device status in the Control Panel (Control Panel, Device Manager). Is the keyboard item missing? Is there any USB item with an exclamation mark?
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.
Most Windows versions: Go to the diskmanagement (run compmgmt.msc) option Disk management. Locate the drive and add a driveletter. If the drive is not shown in the list, you need to check your USB drivers or connectors.
This is likely due to power consumption, if a hub doesn't have it's own power adapter, then it is drawing bus power from your computer, and will not have enough power to drive larger devices.
