Model 300 runs out of fertilizer

Using Scott's fertilizer and settings listed on the bag, I run out of fertilizer. The bag lists 18,000 feet and I have only 12,000 feet. Is there an easy way to check the calibration of the spreader? I don't have the manual.

Since I didn't have a manul, I downloaded one from Scott's and used that to calibrate the spreader which was out of calibration.

Calloways premium fertilizer 21-5-10. Have Scotts Speedy Green 2000. What setting should I use to put down 5 lbs per 1000sq feet?

Lay a tarp out and run the unit over a measured area of the tarp then measure the amount of fertilizer.
Do this a couple of times until you get the desired amount.

What is the spreader setting for 2.8 lbs per 1000 feet?

Hi Tom:
It will depend on the size of the particles being spread.
Usually the package that the material comes in will have a table showing the settings.
Some of the fertilizers that have oyster shell can obstruct the opening and prevent the gate from closing. Gotta watch that.
You could also google the make of your spreader for information.
Here's a link to sites for Scott Spreaders.

Does the product you are using list any Scotts AccuGreen spreader settings? If so, you can safely use the spreader settings listed for the Scotts AccuGreen. If your product does not list any spreader settings, please give Scotts a call at 866-465-5160.

I just bought a new Scott's "Classic Drop" Spreader. I owned a Scott's drop spreader before and the recommended settings on Scott's fertilizer bags always worked great. On...

I am sorry that neither spreader performed as they should have. This is very concerning to us, and we would like to get more information about the spreaders, if you still have 1 the manufacture date would be most helpful to us. It sounds like you could possibly have an over-application of the product as well. If you could call us at 1-800-543-8873, we would be happy to discuss this with you. Stacey at Scotts.

I have lost my instructions for my hand held spreader. The numbers on the side that control the outlet of whatever is in the spreader--do these indicate the number of pounds per 100 sq. ft?

Below is a list of spreader settings. You may want to call Scotts at 800-543-8873 and verify the product you are using is able to be used in a hand held spreader.
  • For fine grass seed (blue, rye, fescue) use setting 1
  • For coarser seed (tall fescue) use setting 2
  • For light fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a regular rate) use setting 3
  • For heavy fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a heavy setting) use setting 4
  • For pelletized fertilizer and ice melt products use setting 5

I have a Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini, and I'm using Ace turf builder (crabgrass preventer with fertilizer). What setting should I use???

I was just told by Scott's phone customer service (800-543-8873) that their TurfBuilder EdgeGuard mini can use the same settings as their "SpeedyGreen" broadcast spreader, if your fertilizer lists that one.

I have a Scotts Speedy Green 2000 rotary spreader and want to know the proper setting for your Milky Spore 20 lb. bag (granular carrier). I have been keeping it about 50% open (Setting # 9 to 9.5) but it...

I have the same question, but have not found a direct answer. I have calculated an estimate setting of 4 or 5 for the speedygreen 2000. The Milky Spore is very simular to the fertilizer that I use. Milky spore says that 1lb covers a little over 300 square feet. My fertilizer says that at a setting of 4 it is spreading 2.6 lb per 1000 square feet (almost 3 lb per 1000 sq ft or 1 lb per 333 sq ft).
Now I may be totally off, but just bought the Milky Spore today and will apply tomorrow. I may look some more tonight to see if I can find an answer. I felt it was kind of bad that the back of the Milky Spore suggested only using a drop spreader!?
