In our 22 cu ft GE SxS fridge /freezer, the freezer fan speeds up and slows down frequently and creates a whoooing sound like a quiet hoot owl when reaching the peak speed of the speed up phase of the ebb and flow of fan speeds. Fridge/freezer works ok, it is just this unusual sound pattern that puzzles me. i know that the new models do have variable fan sppe but is this normal?

I have had some of these units making noises like this. One I found was leaking water down from the water inlet tube and in behind the ice maker and behind another panel that shoots up to the ice maker and building up behind that panel and causing a whistling sound. Removing the ice build up solved this one problem but couldn't find solution to the problem for the other. Dismissed it to change in the weather and expanding and contracting of the liner of the unit. Hope this helps.

My side by side 23.6 cu. ft. no frost refrigerator is not freezing and the refrigerator is not getting cold enough. There's frost on the back wall inside freezer. It's a GE TFX24VR. What can I

usually that means your fridge thermostat is being blocked by items in your fridge, telling the cooling system to shut down. If your fridge and freezer are packed, the fridge might protect itself by shutting down the cooling system. Happened to us last Thanksgiving.

Trouble with freezer fan

Usually, yes. It should be very quiet, so if it sounds loud enough for you to hear it easily it may need replacement- if that fan breaks, everything in the freezer will melt.

GE PROFILE FREEZER PFS 22 SISBSS

hopefully you have a service warranty. I have had me fridge for two years and have replaced the temp control panel twice thus far. serviceman coming AGAIN on Tuesday because now everything in the fridge is freezing. cna't get the temperature in freezer and refrigerator regulated properly. GE knows they have a problem...something in the computer panel board sticks. I'd give anything to be able to put this on the curb and buy a new refrigerator.

SIDE BY SIDE Frig & freezer

hurlsdad.

Sounds like a noisy evaporator fan. Take the shelves out ot the freezer then take the panels on the back wall of the freezer off. The fan will be there. Then you will know for sure thats the source of the noise. When it is time to replace it...easy fix. (few screws) Here is an excellent source for the part..www.repairclinic.com. My favorite place for appliance parts.

hope this is helpful,

the GE refrig has a variable speed fan motor controlled by the mother board located on teh rear of you refrig. the noise your hearing is the fan speed ramping up and down. if this noise is constant its possible the contoller on the mother board is bad and the board needs to be replaced. hope this helps...
