How to format write protected PNY pen drive???

Hi,

I have a PNY 1GB pen drive. When I try to access the pen drive it ask me to format the drive. When I say "yes", then it gives me a message that " the drive is write protected".

Please help me to solve the issue...

First insert your pendrive.Now right click on my computer.Go to manage option . select disk management. From that you must select your drive letter for your pen drive.Go to Action menu near to File menu.Fromthat select all tasks and select formatting.Then again goto all tasks and select change drive letter and paths.select the drive letter and your problem is solved. thanks for asking your problem.

My 1gb kingston pen drive is write protected

Try to right click your pen drive then copy and paste it on your My Documents folder. When done, follow these steps:
1. Go to start menu
2. Click Run and type cmd
==A command prompt shows.==
3. Type cd\
4. Type format x:
5. Press Enter key
6. When done type exit

Note: Copy all the files you have transferred on your My Documents folder and paste files again to your pen drive. You can now do whatever you want on your pen drive.

Remove Write Protection

Try this,
1.
Check out if the USB drive has a small swich for write protection. If its there try toggling the switch.

2.
Windows can all write protect flash drives. Check out this registry path,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.

You may find a key here on the right side by the name 'WriteProtect'. If it's not there this would not be the cause of problem. If it's there, make sure that the value is 0.

Please let me know if this does'nt work.

The write Protect tab, is usually write protected with a small white plastic flick switch, On The side Of the SD Card. If its Down, or In Lock Position. Then It,s Write Protected.
