I do not have a remote for this TV/VCR. The combo has two A/V inputs both on the front and back. I've tried to attach a DVD player utilizing a triple RCA cable...the one with Red/White/Yellow RCA jacks. Since the combo only allows Mono connectivity I attached the Yellow and White RCA jacks to the Yellow RCA video input and the White RCA audio input...trying both the front and back. When I turn the DVD player on and put the TV/VCR to channels 3 or 4 I get nothing but static. Oh I forgot to mention I have a coax connection on the back for cable...I've tried connecting the DVD player with the coax attached and removed...doesn't matter because either way all I get is static. Someone recommended too try a RCA stereo to mono Y connector, honestly I don't see how this would help since I'm only attaching two RCA jack now and nothing is working. It's not like the Red RCA jack that I am not attaching knows it's not being attached. Therefore it should work with the triple cable that comes with all DVD players today...you'd think! I keep thinking that the solution is going to involve a setting on the TV...that I cannot access because I have no remote control. Hopefully this is not the case. If anyone has solved this problem or has a solution I'd greatly appreciate it. Many thanks, Locrian
We also don't have a remote. We hooked a DVD/VCR combo to the Samsung combo by attaching the cable from the cable line to the DVD player and an additional cable from DVD to TV and it used to work but after we lost the control, the DVD can only be listened to but not seen. The VHS from the DVD player works perfectly though.
When we had the remote (before connecting the other combo) we used line-in to see a DVD or VHS using the yellow red and white cables from the Samsung to the other player.
You have to hit the vcr/tv button on the remote. there is a separate line that works for games and dvd devices.

I have the same problem: I do not have a remote for the TV, but I have connected the white and yellow cords FROM the DVD to the TV and can not get the DVD player to work. Any suggestions would be fantastic! It's quite cumbersome to switch out TVs every time we want to watch a movie!
Thank you in advance!

Yes, the point has definitely been missed.
I too have had no success with any of the numerous remotes that I've tried, both universal and RCA.
I think you're missing the point . . .neither poster has a remote for the unit. I can only speak for myself, but no universal remote that I have tried, including RCA remotes, operate effectively for this unit, specifically the TV/VCR button.
