Hi,
I've got a 10 year old TV that, for a while, would display a bright white line for about a half hour before it would finally start flickering around and giving me a picture. Now that wait time is about two hours.
I'm trying to do a self-diagnosis. It seems to me that it cannot be a resistor or poor soldering because once the television warms up, it works. My guess is the heatsink on the vertical scan chip is not attached well, and therefore once it has had time to warm up the connection is better when the epoxy melts a little. However, I am no expert on this subject. Anyone have an idea?
If it is just a collapsed picture and view as a white horizontal line across your screen. Loose vertical IC connection or is start ailing. Best is to reflux its pin with a new lead or resolder it.
But I don't recommend you do it yourself if you don't have experience doing it.
Nasty voltages may caught you.
