Playstation network for online play wont load

I have been playing online for call of duty modern warefare for the past couple days. i traded games with my brother- ( i borrowed his call of duty, world at war- and he borried mine, --modern warefare) once i tried to start up my modern warefare game, it wouldnt load. i can get into all the the main menu for call of duty, single player and all of that works. but once i get to the online play, i click " play online" and am connected to the Playstation Network. but once i try to click, "Find Game" it keeps coming up with "DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS". at first i didnt seem to find it a problem, but once i let it sit for a couple hours, and it still didnt load i knew something was wrong. tried resetting, still nothing worked. i have an active connection but it will not load. there is no load bar or anything it just says "DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS..." thank you for your time. any advice would be appreciated.
