It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap to break up efficiently.

During the cold months the water in your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of 78F for cold water cycles.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

Unit will not switch from hot to cold

check hoses connections- hot to hot and cold to cold at both ends. If not ok, check if you are setting the machine correctly. These days washing in cold water is effective.

DOES MY WIXL143S INDESIT USE HOT OR COLD MAINS

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

That's easy to tell- if it has 2 inlet pipe/hose connections at the back (as opposed to the outlet pipe which is permanently connected to the washer and hooks over the outlet drain) then it is a hot and cold fill. If there is only one inlet pipe it is cold fill only. Either type HAS to have a cold fill supply- to lower the temperature of the hot water for cool washes AND for rinsing which is normally cold water only.

If you have only a cold water tap/fawcet available for the washer and it is a hot and cold fill you will need to purchase, from a hardware (?) store, a 'Y' adapter. Upside down the single end (internal thread) screws into the cold water supply and the hot and cold washer pipes screw into the double end (external threads). The washer is fooled into thinking it has hot and cold! When it expects hot, it opens its hot valve but instead gets the cold water and has to heat it up. It will therefore take longer for the machine to do the washing. When it wants cold for rinses, it opens its cold valve and gets the same water! Simple ;-0)

Hope this has clarified!

Just bought a new washer (refurbished, therefore doesn't come with a handbook). our old washer had both the cold and hot pipe connected, our new one (a bosch 1400 classixx) only has a white valve. do we...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

You just need to collect the cold pipe- the washer does the heating itself for hot washes. It uses the water cold for rinses ;-0)
And for a manual-

you will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!

Good luck,

Hot water on cold washes

To solve this problem simply reverse the water hoses from the way that they are set up currently. Then do a test again to make sure that when you select HOT you are getting HOT.

Cold wash/rinse selected, but only hot water is used

I have a Sears front load washer and I also noticed that on a cold wash/cold rinse cycle the machine was drawing hot water.

Laundry detergents require water to be at a certain temperature to aid in disolve. The machine adds sufficient hot water, regardless of the cycle, until that temp is reached. If I was to use a cold water detergent the machine, because it has no way of knowing which detergent I'm using, will still add hot water until that minimum temp is released. I don't know if there are machines available which include detergent type as an option?

Whirlpool washer new..,. washes cold wash cold rinse.. hot wash cold rinse.. but on warm wash is cold wash cold rinse I can send wasdher back just got it t0 day or is there something I can do?

Be sure the hot water valve is all the way opened first. Both faucets must have equal pressure for washer to work properly. They all rinse with cold water, this is normal.

Washing maching won't rinse in cold water

hi is this hot and cold water piped machine? ie two connections on rear of machine for hot and cold pipes ? if so are your pipes connected properly on machine and the water supplies? if cold supply is connected to hot supply then wash inlet allows water in washer then washes in cold? but when rinse is due? the elec valve that has hot water pipe connected?? is failing to open allowing water flow of hot on rinse so advise recheck pipes for flow of water from both? when disconnected from machine if flow ok then possible valve blocked/faulty hope you can understand above? if you can give more info on your machine it would help to offer a remedy?
