Whirlpool GS6SHAXML side by side refrigerator not making uce

My ice maker just stopped producing ice last weekend. I took a blow dryer to the unit and thought that would help but no luck. I took the ice maker motor out and found a piece of ice lodged in the tray but unable to discharge out. I defrosted the ice and placed back into freezer but still no luck. I now am not getting any water up there. I also changed my filter and that has not help either. Any suggestions? Someone said to check the water value for the ice maker since there are two one for the water and one for the ice dispenser. I have no problem getting water from the unit.

I have a whirlpool side by side(ED25CQ) it isnt making ice, but water still comes from the dispenser. Is this a solenoid problem ? also 3 times in the last few days, I have found water on the floor and the...

1) There is a separate valve feeding the ice maker. It is triggered when ice maker t-stat closes and unit dumps ice. If the ice level sensing rod is down and there is no water in unit, it may have a bad stat or motor(usually unrepairable, need to replace unit) If turning, you may need a new fill valve.
2) If there is water inside the unit on bottom, you probably have a stopped up drainpan. Could be from debris, or may be frozen. located at bottom of freezer coil. If frozen, use a hair dryer to thaw(NO POINTY OBJECTS!!!) If not, inspect positioning of drainline.

Ice maker stopped making ice

hi,

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

No ice

Check whether the water is reaching the ice maker. If something is blocking its way get it cleared. Once it start taking water it should produce ice.

My ice maker is leaking and would not stop making ice.

MAKE SURE THAT THE WATER SUPPLY SOLENOID VALVE IS NOT STUCK OPEN BY DEBRE. AS FOR THE HAIR DRIER ??? THERE IS A LIMIT T-STAT THAT PREVENTS THE ICE-CUBE MAKER HEATER WIRES OR PLATE FROM OVER HEATING. MAKE SURE TO LET THE IT COOL-OFF TO RE-SET THE SAFTY SWITCH. YOU CAN CHECK TO SEE IF SOLENOID IS ENERGIZED BY PLACING A METAL BUTTER KNIFE CLOSE TO THE TOP OF THE SOLENOID... YOU SHOULD FEEL THE MAGNETIC PULL FROM THE SOLENOID. ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ADEQUATE WATER GOING INTO AND OUT OF THE WATER SOLENOID VALVE ... USUALLY LOCATED BEHIND THE FRIG WHERE THE ICE MAKER IS LOCATED.
