Zune error 5 contact support

My zune was saying contact support, microsoft help said to restart it so i did but contact support came back up it then said to restore it i tried restoring it and ever since it has been saying please wait until the battery dies. when the battery is recharged it still says please wait

I know hoe u can fix it up but itll erase everything first.
1. hold the back and up key to restart.
2. after the zune logo goes off, hold the back, center and play button all together. it'll display code three, dont release yet. keep holding till it goes i think code 1 or 2. asking u to connect to pc. then do it.
3. update the software and ur good to go.

i called microsoft when this happened and this ***** told me i need to pay 150 bux to get a new one. thats bull since ive been down with zune since gen 1

    my usband put in a new lcd screen for me and this happened. Only had to do step one and it was back up. Thank you so much for this info. He thought he destroyed it and it works perfectly!

Hard drive is FRIED! This common and the only fix is to replace the hard drive, it has happened to me 3 different times and after the 2nd time I made sure all my files were backed up so it made it a little easier to reload the data. They are relatively inexpensive on ebay (used but good) and I have had not had a single issue since.

I had the same problem. I replaced the hard drive but still have the same problem "contact support". Any ideas?

My sons1 120gm says contact support but it also has a 5 with circle around it and a zune box with an x in the middle i was trying to download some music and had to redownload the software again. i bought this zune about 2 yrs ago for christmas and i hate that i messed it up can u or someone help.? oh and it wont let me turn it off either!!!!!!!!

Try the reset procedure...

hold the back button and the up button until you see the Zune logo then release. if this doesnt work then you are going to have to reset your Zune....however this will loose all the data on the zune so your music/movies will be completely gone. you are going to need to press and hold the back and up button until the zune logo appears then hold the back,play/pause, and the center button until you see "please wait"

Hi you will have to replace your HD in the player. If you have tried reseting it and it still goes to contact 5 then the HD is the problem.

80GB Zune showing error 5 - Contact support

You can fix it but it's very fragile inside the hard drive is broken internally i would send to rapid repair and have the upgrade done. The software you need after the fix is hard to come buy because it has to go through a Microsoft sever that doesn't exist anymore. There is a fix for that on utube. You will have to trick the software on your computer to be the server. Hope that helps.

Zune freezes and says contact support

in order to fix this . you have to restart the device. to restart the device you press and hold back while also pressing and holding the top part of the zune pad until screen goes blank and zune logo appears this should work. if contact support comes back up try restoreing the device.

Zune 30GB black

if it says "contact support" restoring it will not work anymore. listen to the zune's hard drive. if it spins but makes a repeittive noise, the HDD is broken. if it doesn't spin at all either the hard drive of the motherboard may be broken. on the 80gb zune it's usually the logic board or the hard drive cable that causes this. there is a zune repair tutorial online gives you an idea on how to do the replacement yourself. parts are on ebay.
