they are sending me a whole new amp replacement

Exactly the same thing happened to me last night.

I am so dissappointed in these speakers. I already had a good set of non powered speakers that worked fine but I thought that these would be more convenient. I just don't think that they can handle Hip Hop even at lower levels. All other music plays fine.

I encountered the same exact problem w/ one of my SW1501s. I take very good care of my gear and at this event the subs were in an wide open stage area. I don't crank my stuff to the max just enough to have clear good sound.

I have the extended warranty on them and will be taking both to a shop that a friend of mine has to have him contact Mackie and go from there.

Sounds like you may have terminally damaged that unit. As far as the other one being okay I could give a million reasons. A simple one being that maybe your signal was stronger on one channel. Get it checked out at your local repair shop or warranty it out if you can.

    Vincewrd,

I am very happy to hear that my suggestion about the warranty worked out for you. Unfortunately I was out sick for a little bit and regret not being available right away. In the future you can expect our dialog to be much faster. I also gave some extra thought about how the last one blew up and have some ideas. You can try checking your signal cables for defects/continuity with a voltmeter, an unbalanced load can really mess things up in a hurry. Also pay close attention to the power source the amp(s) are hooked up to. For instance if one amp is using a 100 foot long extension cord and the other is connected to Con-Ed, well you know what can happen. The amp that has less, or more specifically not enough power, can go into clipping which can give similar results. Anyway I hope I helped out and let me know how the new amp works out.

Rag burnt, is it safe to use the micro? The rag burnt badly, there was smoke and a strong bad smell persists. Is it safe to keep on using the micro, what can be done about the smell?

Hello -

It is probably safe to use the microwave oven after removing the burned smell.

I found some methods for removing a burned smell from a microwave.

From:
https://blog.bostonappliance.net/5-foolproof-ways-to-get-burnt-popcorn-smell-out-of-the-microwave/

(Quote)
1. Fill a bowl with 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.
  • Microwave it for 4-5 minutes and leave it with the door shut for 10-15 minutes.
  • Steam will loosen smell-causing detritus stuck to the walls. Vinegar absorbs odors, even stubborn ones like burnt popcorn smell.
  • After the waiting period, remove the bowl and wipe the inside of the microwave down with a paper towel
2. Not good enough? Okay - soak a sponge with vinegar.Place some baking soda on top and microwave the sponge for 25 seconds.
  • Wipe the inside of the microwave with the sponge.
  • Don't forget the glass tray and the microwave door.
3. If steps 1-2 don't remove all the grime, soak cotton balls with acetone-free nail polish remover and wipe down the inside of the microwave.
  • Even stubborn stains should come out.
  • Wipe down the inside with soap, then vinegar water, to remove the polish remover.
  • We recommend following through with step 4 to get rid of chemical smells.
4. Banish the remaining smells with the power of citrus.
  • Peel two oranges or slice a lemon in half.
  • Place the orange peels or lemon slices in a bowl of water (1-2 cups).
  • Microwave it for 4 minutes. Watch closely to ensure that the water stays in the bowl and the citrus peels do not burn.
  • If possible, leave the bowl in the microwave (with the door closed) for 12 hours.
  • Too time-consuming, or just not doable for you? That's okay too. Let the bowl sit in the closed microwave for half an hour then, if the burnt smell persists, continue to step 5.
5. Still bad odors in your microwave? Leave an open box of baking soda on your microwave tray overnight.
  • It will neurtalize the odor without adding to the smelly situation in any way.
  • You can also place coffee grounds from your morning coffee in a bowl in the microwave all day while you are at work.
  • If you don't mind coffee smell, you can microwave 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds in a half cup of water for 2-3 minutes to expedite the process.

Best wishes.

Just installed this DV210SG Wall mounted panel heater, works great but smells like burning rubber, there is nothing burning, but sure smells bad! HELP!

There are manufacturing oils remaining on the metal. Allow it to stay on for about 1/2 hour. Open windows and door to ventilate. Smell will dissipate with use.

There is a smell in my car every time I play my system for long periods of time. Its a burning smell. Everything is wired correctly and I have a separate battery in the back of my car to power my subs. I...

The problem could either be the amp over-heating or the subs could be over-heating as well. One of my friends owns an Alpine MRD-M1005, and one day they decided to clean it inside and out and realized they had some burnt spots on the circuit board, although they never smelt anything burning, and the amp still works fine.... As for the lights dimming you should probably buy a power Capacitor, atleast a 1 Farad or larger.

Hope this helps.

Solo x 10 dual 2 ohm smells burnt and smoke

there is no such speaker as a solo-X L5.
The Solobaric L5 is 450Watts RMS and 900 Peak.
Check your documentation, and no warranty except Massive Audio covers Burned Voicecoils as it is deemed customer abuse.
If it is a typo, and not an L5, your combination (as long as each is level matched) should be ok to run on that sub. When wiring it as you describe, the two amplifiers need to be identically matched in order for both coils to play at the same level.
Seek professional installations so your warranty is intact.

Subs just quit

It's probably not a battery problem; sounds more like a sub or amp problem. Check the sub's cone and see if it siezed up or if you smell something burned, also check the amp to see if you can smell the "burnt" smell. It's unlikely that it's your battery, because if it were nothing would be working properly. Take you subs and amp(s) to a good shop and ask them to bench test each item.
