This problem has to be solved by process of elimination first make sure the voltage used is the correct voltage the next step is to disconnect the motor wires from the starter and turn on the power if the starter engages u have a bad motor if breaker trips starter or power cable is shorted a direct on line 220 volts rated at 20 amps motor starter will work just fine or contactor and overload relay at 20 amps 220 volts ( GE, allan bradly, merlin gerin, legrand are some brand manufactures

My delta table saw keeps blowing the circuit breaker on the saw. It does not sound quiet and smooth like usual. I got a good blade its on tight what could this be?

a bad centrifugal starter or inside capacitor and or the electric field if an old type with induction motor , but if it has carbon brushes in the motor instead of an induction motor the commutator on the armature short brushes or a bad bearing(s) on the motor or other gearbearings on the saw drive are worn , it must have a smooth turn if turn on the armature if remove the field /motor house.. look in the motor if running at the end if the carbon brushes you see are make to much sparks a worn bearing without the balls or bad armature collectors or electric field . watch if the bearing is worn by blue hot it can have melting the seat in the motor house replace it all.

Motor starter

verify all three legs of the power are on. You could have a single blown fuse that would cause the motor to single phase and not run.

Oscillating drum sander runs a few minutes and stops

This usually occurs if the motor is overheating and the internal circuit breaker is tripping. After it cools down, it self resets. This can be caused by bad bearings or parts dragging the motor down, making it work hard enough to over heat and trip the breaker. If you are running it on an extension cord or circuit that isn't able to provide it with the amps it needs the motor will overheat and trip the breaker also.

MY ROCKWELL 10 INCH TABLESAW SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING. IT TRIES TO COME ON WHEN I HIT THE START BUTTON, BUT BLADE TURNS 1/4 INCH THEN STOPS. CONTACTOR STILL HUMS THEN THE BREAKER TRIPS. PLEASE HELP!!

If the blade turns freely by hand, check the motor brushes. Most high quality power tools have easily replacable brushes, and they usually only cost a few bucks.

I have a Delta 50-850 that has begun shutting off, tripping the breaker on the machine itself. Sometimes it will run for 10 minutes, sometimes 10 seconds. It's annoying and I have to fix it. I changed...

If its not the breaker it must be the motor!

If the motor has had massses of use it could be well worn

If its had little use it could be something in the casing casung it to "drag" when its running.

When a motor is under strain it pulls more current and thats what trips the breaker.

WITH IT UNPLUGGED - check over whatever you can get to and feel happy about with the motor - if there is nothing obvious then you could take the motor out and take it to an electrical repair shop to see if it can be fixed.

It could be bearings worn, bearings stuck, windings damaged, brushes worn, armature worn, etc.

If its not the obvious - get a professional to sort it.

GOOD LUCK

14" Delta Bandsaw keeps tripping the internal motor breaker.

Hi,
The first thing that I would check is the wiring to the saw. My guess is that the wire to the saw or the cord is not heavy enough.
As saw like that can pull a lot of amps. Probably 15 or more when working hard. What happens is that when the amp draw goes up and the cord is too light, the voltage drops which increases the amps. and starts a vicious cycle...
The one thing that finally gives is the internal overload in your motor.

Try running heavier wire or a heavier extension cord if you are using one.
#12 wire or a 12 wire cord would be minimum, if running over say 50 feet then you should be looking at #10 wire.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Motor labors on startup. Kicks off 220 v breaker. Just happened. Been using Delta Unisaw for years. Motor doesn't get hot or smoke.Last time it was working well and I went to hit the red stop button I may...

could be a couple problems without knowing what motor the starter windings could be burnt or the capacitator might be bad. I would suggest going to Dewaltservicenet.com and typing in your model number to see if you can find a breakdown there. If not send it to me and I will try and locate it for yo.

My delta 31-250 sander dc drive motor will not run. The machine has only been used for 26 hours total. the dc motor quit during the sanding of a 12" board after the third pass.

Did the DC drive give you a fault code? It may have tripped on a current over load. Needs to be set to handle load.
