We have a kenmore elite He3T that is about 4yrs old. Just recently the control panel prewash light under options is always stays on. If you press normal for the wash cycle the warm and cold water temp lights come on and the high and medium spin cycle lights come on also. If you go through the other wash cycles it varios other light swill come on two at at time. It will go through the whole wash cycle from start to finish but you never know what options it has used. I tried to unplug it but no help. Thanks for any help om this matter.
Well there is one of two control boards that is malfunctioning, most common is the Machine (or Main) control board, there is also a display pc board in the control panel, but i have had few problems with that control. Unfortunately the main board is $300.

Raise up your washer slightly or feel for 3 screws right under the front, bottom. Unscrew these and pull down - you will find the lint trap. Be prepared for water, and since the model is 2002 - immense junk too! Pl say so if helped!!
door lock error...door lock mechanism broken,,,replace door switch,,,if your lock out remove toe panel and reach up and pull tab,,always unplug first...good luck

We experienced the same thing. I was able to restart and locate the noise to the water pump. After disassembling the water pump found the impeller shaft sliding out. For some reason this shaft will not stay in place. Had to order a complete pump assembly as the electric motor is not available.
you can try removing the lower aceess panel, behind there ,usually tapes to the inner wall is a tech sheet/ diagnostic chart. inthere it will explain how to check each component individually. there s a master diag mode, im not sure how to enter with the sears version, only familliar with the whirlpool(same machine different control panel)it will test all components though
