Their site has a few good instructional clips, inclding for connecting and using shampooer, changing belt, and attaching hose.
Find them here: http://www.kirby.com/Portals/0/videos.html
Below is a link to the GoodVac.com website. This link will take you to the "Online Kirby Vacuum Manual". The manual will instruct you in removing the carpet nozzle, replacing it with the hose and attaching the upholstery tool.
YES there is Kirby upholstery shampoo attachment that comes in a standard set of attachments - HERE is the instructions. Try it on inconspicuous area first just to make sure that this is going to work on your upholstery. But I would just buy a can of upholstery foam. If you can not find it in a store - try automotive store - they definitely have it. Spray can is just much more simple. Still try it somewhere where you would not be afraid to damage the color first.
Using shampoo attachment on berber carpets is not as effective as on the regular carpet. Brush cant get to brush the fiber from all sides. You may have to shampoo berber rugs from several directions to get the better result.
Remove the main head and put on the air guard. Take of the bag assembly and attach the hose. Mix up the solution in the "Suds o gun". Attach this to the end of the hose. When you switch on, foam will dispense from the gun. Gently sponge this into the furniture.
Generic problem for all Vacuums How do you use and How do you use and what attachments for upholstery cleaning with the Heritage II I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Kirby has a spin brush that is round on the newer Kirby’s and it works on the suction from the vacuum and it fits on the end of the vacuum hose but it does not fit into corners very well or your can take some Kirby shampoo in the spray water bottle and use a kitchen scrub brush for the corners. Other wise you can use the actually Kirby Shampooer of which is very hard and unfriendly; the spin brush would be my selection. You can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and also in the yellow pages. Also you can call the Kirby factory to see if they can direct you. The Kirby factory is listed below: http://kirby.comContact Us by Phone United States and Canada 1-800-494-8586 Between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST Monday thru Friday
it depends on the make of the kirby you are using but most kirby systems come with a portable shampooer and special shampoo. I would not recommend using your zip brush for shampooing purposes, the zippbrush is designed to loosen up dog hair, dirt, ect. when vacuuming.
to shampoo upholstery do the following:
remove bag from side of machine,
place hose where bag goes,
remove power head from front of the machine,
place air intake valve on front of machine where power head was (intake valve kinda shaped like a pig nose with small holes on end)
attach portable shapooer to end of hose and fill with water and kirby shampoo
spray shampoo witch is foamy looking on whatever you are shampooing, rub into fabric w/a brush and let sit till dry.
when dry turn kirby back into a hand held vacuum by putting powerhead back on front of machine and putting bag back on side of machine, then vacuum furiture. (make sure it is 100% dry before you vacuum because Kirby is not a wet vac!)
Hope this helped ya out a little
