Actualy I can see dvd playing but no sound,.when I put music cd it has sound.( this mother board is AsusP5S800-VM,( has in built sound) I have another dvd writer installed as well which is Liteon 20x, model DH-20A4P08C ( 3 months old new one and it is not even playing DVD. we recently re installed the Windows XP. this problem came after that. Sounds to me your trying to do what i did and did not work. the issue is the netbook is not compatable with this method you need a netbook compatable External unit is what i suggest, if there are any experts that have diffrent advice I welcome it as well. But I tryed what your doing in fact i went out and bought a external unit because of this fact, the issue is compatability.
Most CD/DVD drives have a label showing the jumper setting for Master (MA), Slave (SL)and Cable Select (CS).
You only need a single jumper and it is inserted in a vertical position.
There are a group of 6 pins (3 columns of 2 pins) next to the 40 pin IDE connector.
The Slave setting is usually the middle set of pins.
512 should be enough. As long as you have enough hard drive space windows should take care of creating virtual memory with the swap file.
I see no reason at all why 512 wouldn't be enough ram to burn a disc. If you are running out of memory take a look at what programs are running on the system and try to close some of the larger ones.
