Moen 7065 leaking at base of lever control in kitchen faucet

Moen 7065 is leaking at base of lever pull. There are no visible drips..just water constantly accumulating around base. Would cartridge replacement solve this, or is it another part that needs replacing? Thanks

Thankyou very much, dlmcmasters! The cartridge WAS indeed the culprit. The old one came out easy, the new one went in nicely. It was a bit tricky reinstalling the collar type base at the end. Also the water lines were reversed and I had to take it apart a second time to turn the thing 180 degrees. Everything seems to be working great right now. Hopefully this will work for a long time to come, as the old one only lasted about 2 years since we redid the kitchen. Thanks again!

Yes, a cartridge will probably solve it. There are two different Moen cartridges so be sure to take the old one with you so you get the correct one.

How do I replace the cartridge in my Moen 7065 Vestige Single Handled kitchen Faucet?

first the water needs to be shut off, then with an allan wrench if i remember it should be 1/8. the allan screw is located in the handle. remove the screw completely and under the handle should be a nut, with a crescent wrench remove the nut and the cartridge should be ready to be removed. it is going to be difficult to come out with out the proper moen tool but vise grips will help as you have to pull straight up. if you find a plumping wholesale and give them the model # they should be able to give you the right cartridge. or if you call moen the will ship you one either way it should be free as that is a warranty item.

We have a Moen 87315C kitchen faucet and it is dripping from the sprayer portion of the faucet, what's the problem?

If it's leaking at sprayer, and not the base where connected to hose, try this. Buy a bottle or jug of CLR. (calcium, lime, rust ) from hardware store, and pour enough in a bowl that will submerse sprayer in it. When you go to bed, or out for a few hours, turn off both taps (obviously) and relieve all pressure as well from sprayer. Now wrap an elastic around the handle of the sprayer so that lever is depressed, and submerse it in the bowl of CLR, and let it work overnight or at least for a few hours. Next Day, or Later, remove elastic from sprayer, and try it a few times and see if leak has stopped. Quite often you get calcium build up on internal washer/seal, and this will clean it off. If no CLR, you can try vinegar as well, but I find CLR better. If it appears better but not stopped completely, give it another treatment.

Dripping faucet

Moen is a cartridge style unit. They make two different cartridges that you can buy at Home Depot. Turn the water off under the sink and then remove the handle. You will see the the cartridge. It has a U shaped retaining clip that pulls out. Once you remove it, then take a pair of pliers and pull the cartridge out. Take it up to HD and match the one you have. The new one will slide right back in and you will reverse the process.
