You have to go to the input button on the remote and push HDMI

Does not answer question. I have an LG 32LX2D TV & Sony Blu ray connected by HDMI cable. LG TV input set to HDMI. It used to work fine. Now, error message on screen "invalid format" appears and immediately changes to "No Signal".
Input label for HDMI used to be "Blu-ray". Now it is "HD-DVD". With input menu on screen and HDMI selected, pressing right arrow does not open the input labEl list - I cannot change the input label.
I cannot change the input label on any input.
Right arrow functions correctly everywhere else I have tried it.

LG blue ray won't play sound from RCA sound bar. HDMI cable is hooked into HDMi slot on TV

the details you provided were very vague, however from my experience when a device is connected to another device via and audio capable hdmi cable, that device renders it audio output to the device its connected to and normally turn off all other audio outputs beside optical- I would assume there is an option in the blue ray player to turn off hdmi audio, which will in turn activate other audio outputs- you may also look for audio out port on your tv, it is ideal to connect the sound bar directly to the tv set audio out ports. To sum this up,
if you plan to use your player via hdmi cable you need to turn off hdmi audio output on the blue ray player and the plug an audio cable from your blue-ray player to your sound bar
you may also as i said connect your sound bar directly to your tv, the issue is most tv sets now a days do not have an audio out port, if you do then everything you play thru your tv will have audio via sound bar
there are several way to go here but unless your sound bar has hdmi av switching capabilities (im sure not) this is one of the most simple--Good Luck.

My DVD is playing my videos in black and white .. It's a Panasonic tv model is tc-L32c5

follow the steps. God bless you
Insert a DVD lens-cleaning disc into your player and press "Play" to clean the DVD laser, eliminating picture problems due to read errors. Do not use a CD cleaning disc as the brushes on these discs can damage your laser.

  • 2 Wipe your DVDs clean of all visible marks and dirt using a lint-free cleaning cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner. This further fixes read errors which can damage the quality of picture and sound.

  • 3 Disconnect your DVD player from the TV or receiver you have it connected to. Reconnect the DVD player directly to the "AV" or "Video In" port of your television, firmly pushing the plug into place, to eliminate possible noise from the receiver and ensure a clean connection.
  • 4 Connect your DVD player using an S-Video, component video or HDMI cable. Standard yellow/red/white RCA connectors cannot carry the high-quality signal that DVD discs are capable of transmitting, and will display a particularly poor picture on flat-screen high definition televisions. Use an HDMI cable, if your television and player support it, or a red/blue/green component video cable.
  • 5 Press "Setup" on your DVD remote and enter "Picture Settings." Make sure your DVD player is set to display images in the correct screen format ("Widescreen" or "16 x 9" for HDTV sets, "Standard" or "4 x 3" for older square sets) and scan mode. If you are using a DVD player that supports "Progressive Scan" on an HDTV or flat-screen set, activate this setting; for older sets, choose "Interlace" if given a choice.

Get sound and "invalid format" message displayed instead of picture

Could have still been hit by a surge. Take the back off of the TV and look at the main board were you connect your HDMI. See if it is scorched or components that blackened. Also check your DVD player on another set. Your DVD player could be the problem.

    I have a 55" LG

Easy solution; this is a very common problem. Connect Cable or satellite box / DVR directly to one of the TV HDMI inputs. Connect an optical audio cable from that box to receiver so sound is surround through your speakers. You cannot connect DVR directly to receiver because the anti pirating chip will shut off the picture and produce a green or no screen at all.
You can, however, connect a BD (Blu-Ray) player via HDMI cable directly to your receiver without that problem. Connect HDMI output from receiver to a second HDMI input on the LG.

Invalid format error with P1600 blu-ray and LG LCD TV 42"

It may be a firmware issue if hdmi works with other items such as playstation.
If no hdmi the main Pcb hdmi ports are bad and the main Pcb would have to be replaced.

Consumers cannot upgrade the firmware so a shop would be the only option.

    Hdmi inputs stopped working

It sound like the cable box or the Blue ray player is set to high - such as 1080P when the set is only rated at 720 - try scaling the output down and see if that helps
